Philip Montgomery
Philip Montgomery (born December 21, 1971) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Auburn. He is the former head coach of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team. Career Montgomery was hired by Tulsa on December 11, 2014. He was previously the offensive coordinator of the Baylor Bears. In 2013, Montgomery was a finalist for the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top college football assistant coach. He played collegiately at Tarleton State University with the likes of Kevin Vickers, Ryland Bailey and Chad Martinka. In December 11, 2014, Montgomery was hired as the 33rd head coach at the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Offensive Coordinator
An offensive coordinator is a member of the coaching staff of an American football or Canadian football team who is in charge of the team's offense. Generally, along with the defensive coordinator and the special teams coordinator, this coach represents the second level of coaching structure after the head coach. The offensive coordinator is in charge of the team's offensive game plan, and typically calls offensive plays during the game, although some offensive-minded head coaches also handle play-calling. Several position coaches work under the offensive coordinator (position groupings can include quarterbacks, wide receivers, offensive line, running backs, and tight ends). Unlike most position coaches in football, who are usually on the sidelines during games, offensive coordinators have the option of operating from the press box instead of being on the sideline. Broyles Award
The Broyles Award is an annual award given to honor the best assistant coach in college football. First awarded in 1996, it was named after former University of Arkansas men's athletic director Frank Broyles. The award is presented in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Downtown Rotary Club. To date 18 of the 23 winners have gone on to become head football coaches. Award Every year, roughly 1,300 assistant coaches representing all 130 FBS programs are eligible for nomination by their peers as well as Selection Committeecomposed of former head coaches. The nominees are narrowed down to just five finalists, all of whom are invited to Little Rock, Arkansas for the annual Broyles Award ceremony. The 2017 Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team represented the University of Tulsa in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The 2016 Miami Beach Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game played on December 19, 2016 at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida.
