Philip J. Reed is a role-playing game game designer and Chief Operating Officer for Steve Jackson Games. Career Philip J. Reed has worked in the RPG industry since 1995 for West End Games, Privateer Press, Atlas Games, and Steve Jackson Games. Reed began an independent blog in 2002, posting reviews or short articles about games. In September 2002, Reed released the PDF ''101 Spellbooks'' (2002) for the d20 system. Reed sold his first PDFs from his website under the Spider Bite Games imprint. In 2003, Reed and artist Christopher Shy created Ronin Arts. The company 54°40' Orphyte sold the rights to Pacesetter Ltd's game ''Star Ace'' to Reed, for which he created a website in 2003 publish a d20 version of it, but the website lasted only a year. Reed and Christopher Shy in 2003, to some degree a successor to Shy's Studio Ronin and Reed's selling of role playing games PDFs from his blog. TSR (company)
TSR, Inc. was an American game publishing company, best known as the original publisher of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D''). Its earliest incarnation, Tactical Studies Rules, was founded in October 1973 by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye. Gygax had been unable to find a publisher for ''D&D'', a new type of game he and Dave Arneson were co-developing, so founded the new company with Kaye to self-publish their products. Needing financing to bring their new game to market, Gygax and Kaye brought in Brian Blume in December as an equal partner. ''Dungeons & Dragons'' is generally considered the first tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG), and established the genre. ''Marvel Super Heroes'' (MSHRPG) is a role playing game set in the Marvel Universe, first published by TSR as the boxed set '' Marvel Super Heroes: The Heroic Role-Playing Game'' under license from Marvel Comics in 1984. In 1986, TSR published the '' Marvel Superheroes Advanced Game'', an expanded edition. Jeff Grubb designed both editions, and Steve Winter wrote both editions. Both use the same game system. Pacesetter Ltd was a game company based in Delavan, Wisconsin, founded in 1984. Company founders included CEO John Rickets, and Mark Acres, Andria Hayday, Gaye Goldsberry O'Keefe, Gali Sanchez, Garry Spiegle, Carl Smith, Stephen D. Sullivan and Michael Williams. Christopher Shy
Christopher Shy, who occasionally goes by the pen name "Ronin", is a freelance fantasy and science fiction artist. Biography Christopher Shy created Studio Ronin in 1994 to highlight his art. With George Vasilakos, Shy conceived the zombie RPG '' All Flesh Must Be Eaten'' (2000). In 2003, he joined forces with author Philip J. Reed to create the company Ronin Arts. His work includes character portraits for White Wolf's ''Mage: The Ascension (Revised Edition)'' and '' Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness'', a graphic novel written by Claudio Sanchez.
