Phil Camm
Phil Camm is the former co-owner and Managing Director of Griffins Rugby and helped spearhead the growth of professional rugby in America. Phil Camm created Griffins Rugby in 2008 along with Bill Bingham, Jeff Walton and Lee McCurrach. Bingham and Camm went on to grow Griffins into one of the country's first semi-pro rugby teams and were part of the initial group of team owners who took bold steps to professionalize the sport. This early group, with members from Austin, Seattle, Houston, Glendale (CO), Utah, Chicago, Kansas City and New Orleans became the foundation for Major League Rugby. Dallas had originally planned to begin play in 2018 but a lack of suitable stadium forced them to wait until 2021, during which time, the team rebranded to become the Dallas Jackals. Dallas Griffins Rugby, formerly Frisco Griffins, is a rugby union team based in Allen, Texas, United States, founded in 2008 by Phil Camm and Jeff Walton. Major League Rugby (MLR or USMLR) is a professional rugby union competition and the top-level championship for clubs in North America. In the 2022 season it was contested by thirteen teams: twelve from the United States and one from Canada. Officially sanctioned by USA Rugby—a member union of Rugby Americas North (RAN)—and consequently part of World Rugby, the league was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The Dallas Jackals are a Major League Rugby team that began play in the 2022 season as an expansion franchise. They were originally going to join the MLR for the 2021 season, but on January 19, 2021, the Jackals delayed their inaugural season to 2022. The team is owned by an investment group including Neil Leibman of the Texas Rangers and Top Tier Sports. The team is based in Arlington, Texas, playing at Choctaw Stadium. Donnie Nelson
Donn Charles Nelson (born September 10, 1962) is an American basketball executive who previously held general manager and president of basketball operations roles for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the son of Hall of Fame basketball coach Don Nelson, who has the second most wins of any coach in NBA history at 1,335.
