State Of Matter
In physics, a state of matter is one of the distinct forms in which matter can exist. Four states of matter are observable in everyday life: solid, liquid, gas, and Plasma (physics), plasma. Different states are distinguished by the ways the component particles (atoms, molecules, ions and electrons) are arranged, and how they behave collectively. In a solid, the particles are tightly packed and held in fixed positions, giving the material a definite shape and volume. In a liquid, the particles remain close together but can move past one another, allowing the substance to maintain a fixed volume while adapting to the shape of its container. In a gas, the particles are far apart and move freely, allowing the substance to expand and fill both the shape and volume of its container. Plasma is similar to a gas, but it also contains charged particles (ions and free electrons) that move independently and respond to electric and magnetic fields. Beyond the classical states of matter, ...

Lunar Phase
A lunar phase or Moon phase is the apparent shape of the Moon's directly sunlit portion as viewed from the Earth. Because the Moon is tidally locked with the Earth, the same hemisphere is always facing the Earth. In common usage, the four major phases are the new moon, the first quarter, the full moon and the last quarter; the four minor phases are waxing crescent, waxing gibbous, waning gibbous, and waning crescent. A lunar month is the time between successive recurrences of the same phase: due to the eccentricity of the Moon's orbit, this duration is not perfectly constant but averages about 29.5 days. The appearance of the Moon (its phase) gradually changes over a lunar month as the relative orbital positions of the Moon around Earth, and Earth around the Sun, shift. The visible side of the Moon is sunlit to varying extents, depending on the position of the Moon in its orbit, with the sunlit portion varying from 0% (at new moon) to nearly 100% (at full moon). Phenomenon ...

Phase (Mildlife Album)
''Phase'' is the debut studio album by Australian psychedelic jazz fusion group, Mildlife. The album was released 2 November 2017. At the 2018 Worldwide FM Awards, the album won Best Album. At the Music Victoria Awards of 2018, the album was nominated for Best Soul, Funk, R'n'B and Gospel Album. Reception Kitty Empire from '' Rolling Stone Australia'' said "Mildlife's debut album, ''Phase'', falls just on the right side of the line dividing smug progressive fusions a la the Alan Parsons Project from questing psych-disco-jazz, the kind that wouldn't sound wrong supporting Tame Impala on tour. The most enduring tracks are the calmest, where Mildlife foreground flow and beauty over virtuoso musicianship." Philip Wilding from ''Louder Sound'' said "Mildlife make music that made this writer want to transform his living room into a haven of shagpile carpet, with some sort of seat that looks like a bowl that hangs from the ceiling on a chain. After giving the album a couple of sp ...

Phases (I See Stars Album)
''Phases'' is the third remix album by American electronicore band I See Stars, released through Sumerian Records on August 28, 2015. The album features "raw and unplugged" versions of some of the band's previously recorded material, as well as some cover songs. The album is entirely composed of acoustic guitars and basses, pianos, and stringed instruments accompanied by Devin and Andrew Oliver's singing, in place of the screaming, breakdowns, and electronics typically used by the band. On September 25, 2015, the band embarked on the ''Phases'' tour in promotion of the album. Appropriately, the tour only featured the versions of songs performed on ''Phases'' and did not feature the entire band, leading to departure rumors of keyboardist and unclean vocalist Zach Johnson and guitarist Jimmy Gregerson. Gregerson's departure was later confirmed, followed by Johnson's a short while later. Track listing All tracks except for 3, 6, 8, and 10 written by I See Stars; lyrics written b ...

Phases (band)
Phases (formerly known as JJAMZ and pronounced ''juh-jamz'') is an American indie pop band from Los Angeles, California composed of Jason Boesel ( Rilo Kiley / Bright Eyes/ Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band), Alex Greenwald (Phantom Planet / Blackblack), Michael Runion, and Z Berg ( The Like). Background JJAMZ was started at karaoke night at Guys in Hollywood. The band name is an acronym using the first letter of each member's name. The group was a means of escape from each member's respective bands at a time when things seemed hectic for each member. "JJAMZ started at an interesting time in all of our lives. We all needed some kind of escape from relationships or our other bands. It was a tumultuous time, and the lyrics just came out. It was like word vomit. I can't remember," said Z Berg, lead vocalist for the Like, in one of their first interviews as a band. The band played their first concert at the Echo Plex on January 27, 2009, and went on to release their debu ...

Phase is a UK-based rock band formed in Larissa, Greece in 2003. They debuted with their digital single Perdition under Microsoft's "Playlist Seven" co-promotion campaign for the release of Windows 7, which was followed by two full-length albums ''In Consequence and the Wait.'' History Formation (2003;2008) Phase was formed in 2003 and played intermittently until 2008 when they began recording their album ''In Consequence'' and performed at concerts. Soon after they had a functional line up they recorded ''Perdition'' which was the very first track Phase ever recorded to be later a part of Microsoft's Playlist 7 campaign. Phase Music
Phase music is a form of music that uses phasing as a primary process music, compositional process. It is an approach to musical composition that is often associated with minimal music, as it shares similar characteristics, but some commentators prefer to treat phase music as a separate category. Phasing is a compositional technique in which the same part (a repetitive phrase) is played on two musical instruments, in steady but not identical tempo. Thus, the two instruments gradually shift out of unison, creating first a slight echo as one instrument plays a little behind the other, then a doubling effect with each note heard twice, then a complex ringing effect, and eventually coming back through doubling and echo into unison. Phasing is the rhythmic equivalent of cycling through the phase of two waveforms as in Phase shift, phasing. The tempi of the two instruments are almost identical, so that both parts are perceived as being in the same tempo: the changes only separate the p ...

Meiosis
Meiosis () is a special type of cell division of germ cells in sexually-reproducing organisms that produces the gametes, the sperm or egg cells. It involves two rounds of division that ultimately result in four cells, each with only one copy of each chromosome (haploid). Additionally, prior to the division, genetic material from the paternal and maternal copies of each chromosome is crossed over, creating new combinations of code on each chromosome. Later on, during fertilisation, the haploid cells produced by meiosis from a male and a female will fuse to create a zygote, a cell with two copies of each chromosome. Errors in meiosis resulting in aneuploidy (an abnormal number of chromosomes) are the leading known cause of miscarriage and the most frequent genetic cause of developmental disabilities. In meiosis, DNA replication is followed by two rounds of cell division to produce four daughter cells, each with half the number of chromosomes as the original parent cell. ...

Mitosis
Mitosis () is a part of the cell cycle in eukaryote, eukaryotic cells in which replicated chromosomes are separated into two new Cell nucleus, nuclei. Cell division by mitosis is an equational division which gives rise to genetically identical cells in which the total number of chromosomes is maintained. Mitosis is preceded by the S phase of interphase (during which DNA replication occurs) and is followed by telophase and cytokinesis, which divide the cytoplasm, organelles, and cell membrane of one cell into two new cell (biology), cells containing roughly equal shares of these cellular components. The different stages of mitosis altogether define the mitotic phase (M phase) of a cell cycle—the cell division, division of the mother cell into two daughter cells genetically identical to each other. The process of mitosis is divided into stages corresponding to the completion of one set of activities and the start of the next. These stages are preprophase (specific to plant ce ...
