Balie Peyton
Balie Peyton (November 26, 1803 – August 18, 1878) was an American lawyer and politician who represented Tennessee's 6th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. Biography Peyton was born near Gallatin, Tennessee on November 26, 1803. After his preparatory studies, he studied law, was admitted to the bar, and commenced practicing in Gallatin in 1824. He married Anne Alexander Smith. Career Elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress and re-elected as a Hugh Lawson White Anti-Jacksonian supporter to the Twenty-fourth Congress, Peyton served from March 4, 1833 to March 3, 1837. Peyton moved to New Orleans in 1841, having been appointed the U.S. Attorney for the District of Louisiana, a position he held for four years from 1841 to 1845. Family life for Peyton was shattered by the fatal illness of his thirty-four-year-old wife in New Orleans in 1845. Shelly R. Peyton is an American chemist who is the Armstrong Professional Development Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research considers the development of biomaterials to investigate metastatic cancer and potential new therapies. Early life and education Peyton was an undergraduate student at Northwestern University, where she majored in chemical engineering. She was a member of the ultimate frisbee team. Roger "Rog" Peyton (born 1942) is an English science fiction fan, bookseller, editor and publisher from Birmingham. Peyton has been an active member of science fiction fandom since 1961, when he co-founded the Birmingham Science Fiction Group. From 1964 to 1966, he served as editor for the British Science Fiction Association's critical magazine ''Vector''. He also started the British Science Fiction Association's fiction magazine Tangent. Early life Peyton was born in Sligo and raised in Killasser near Swinford, County Mayo, his mother was the owner of a knitwear factory and was fond of cooking. Noel Peyton (born Dublin, Ireland; 4 December 1935) is an Irish former professional footballer who played as an inside left for Shamrock Rovers, Leeds United and York City, and for the Republic of Ireland national football team. Mike Peyton (20 January 1921 – 25 January 2017) was a British cartoonist, described by his biographer as ‘the world’s greatest yachting cartoonist’. Biography Mike Peyton was born into a mining family in County Durham, the son of a disabled First World War veteran. Having lied about his age to join the army himself, he was seconded by the intelligence corps to draw maps of the North African desert during the Second World War. Despite escaping twice he spent most of the war in a prisoner of war camp. Freed by the advancing Soviet army, he fought alongside Russian troops as they invaded Nazi Germany from the East.
