Petts Wood Railway Station
Petts Wood railway station is on the South Eastern Main Line, serving Petts Wood in the London Borough of Bromley, south-eastern Greater London. It is down the line from London Charing Cross and is situated between and stations. It is in Travelcard zone 5. It has four platform faces on islands located between the slow and fast pairs of tracks. To the north of the station is Petts Wood Junction, where the up (London-bound) and down (country-bound) loop lines link the lines from Charing Cross and Victoria. The station is managed by Southeastern. There is a waiting room serving the two slow lines. The booking office, Oystercard readers, and ticket machines are all situated at footbridge level; this footbridge is always open to non-passengers. Murder Of Deborah Linsley
On the afternoon of 23 March 1988, Deborah Linsley was murdered on a train between Petts Wood and London Victoria stations in Greater London. Although there were about 70 people on the train, and Linsley apparently fought and injured her attacker, only one passenger reported hearing anything suspicious. The killer has not been identified. Stored blood evidence from the scene allowed the case to be re-examined a decade later using DNA technology, and in 2002 it was re-opened with a major publicity campaign. A police reward is on offer. Background Deborah "Debbie" Linsley was born in Bromley, Kent, in 1962 to Arthur and Marguerite Linsley. Thameslink
Thameslink is a 24-hour main-line route in the British railway system, running from , , , and via central London to Sutton, , , Rainham, , , , and . The network opened as a through service in 1988, with severe overcrowding by 1998, carrying more than 28,000 passengers in the morning peak. All the services are currently operated by Govia Thameslink Railway. The Thameslink Programme was a major £5.5billion scheme to increase capacity on the central London section by accommodating more frequent and longer trains, and providing additional routes and destinations. Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) is a train operating company that operates the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern (TSGN) rail franchise in England.
