Petrea Burchard
Petrea Celeste Burchard is an American actress. She is sometimes credited as Celeste Burch in the anime she appears in. Her most recognizable role to date is as the English voice actor for fictional character and space pirate, Ryoko Hakubi from the Japanese animated series ''Tenchi Muyo!''. Biography Burchard's acting career began on the stage, taking roles in prominent production companies including Chicago's Second City and Victory Gardens theaters. She has played various roles in television, film, and theatre. Petrea has been a guest star on NBC's '' ER'', ''Passions'', and ''The West Wing'', and CBS's ''How I Met Your Mother'', ''Joan of Arcadia'', ''The Guardian'', and ''The Young and the Restless''. Magical Girl
is a subgenre of Japanese fantasy media (including anime, manga, light novels, and live-action media) centered around young girls who possess magical abilities, which they typically use through an ideal alter ego into which they can transform. The genre emerged in 1962 with ''Himitsu no Akko-chan'', followed by ''Sally the Witch'' in 1966 produced by Toei Animation. Tenchi Universe
is a Japanese anime television series animated by AIC and produced by Pioneer LDC. It is loosely based on the first six episodes of the ''Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki'' OVA series. The series premiered on April 2, 1995 in Japan and concluded its airing on September 24, 1995. The series aired in the United States on Cartoon Network's cartoon block Toonami on July 20, 2000 and ended on August 24, 2000. Two featured films came from this canon, '' Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi Muyo in Love'' and ''Tenchi Forever! The Movie''. Funimation announced distribution of the series, along with several other ''Tenchi'' properties, on July 2, 2010 at Anime Expo. ''Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi in Love!'', also known in Japan as , is a 1996 Japanese animated film and the first of three films set in the ''Tenchi Muyo!'' multi-verse. is a Japanese anime television series animated by AIC and aired on TV Tokyo from April 1 to September 23, 1997.
