Petersgaard is a Neoclassical architecture, Neoclassical manor house and agricultural estate located between Kalvehave and Vordingborg in Vordingborg Municipality, on the southern part of Zealand, in southeastern Denmark. The Neoclassical main building overlooks Ulvsund and the Queen Alexandrine Bridge, with the island of Møn in the background. History Peter Johansen's estate and dockyard Petersgaard is one of 12 estates that were created when Vordingborg Cavalry District was sold at auction in 1774. Kallehavegaard was as Estate No. 12 sold to the merchant and shipowner Peter Johansen. He renamed it Petersgaard. Born in Stavreby at Jungshoved, Johansen was the son of a poor immigrant farmer from Poland (Johan Klabovsky). He fled from the ''Stavnsbånd'' and was able to buy his freedom from it in 1749 for 50 Danish rigsdaler, rigsdaler. Ida Marie Suhr
Ida Marie Suhr (1853–1938) was a wealthy Danish philanthropist and estate owner. She is remembered for her associations with the Skagen Painters, in particular Anna and Michael Ancher, whom she met during annual visits to Skagen and invited to stay with her at Petersgaard Manor in southern Zealand. In addition to the houses she built for those working on her estate, she funded an old people's home in nearby Langebæk and a convalescent home in Copenhagen. Biography Born on 5 October 1853 in Copenhagen, Ida Marie Suhr was the daughter of the prosperous merchant Ole Berendt Suhr (1813–1875) and Ida Marie Bech (1825–1897), the fourth of the six children in the family. Jens Juel (1897–1978)
Jens Juel (28 April 1897 – 25 December 1978) was a Danish estate owner, chamberlain and Member of the Royal Hunt. He was from 1938 the owner of Petersgaard at Vordingborg, including the vast Pedersgaard Forest District. He was a board member of the Danish Forrest Association (1959–1965). He served as director both of (1940–1962) and of Det Classenske Fideicommis (1948–1974). Early life and education Juel was born on 28 April 1897 at Meilgaard, the son of Niels Joachim Christian Gregers Iuel and Clara Anna Sofie Treschow. Ole Berendt Suhr (1813–1875)
Ole Berendt Suhr (3 May 1813 – 6 October 1875) was a Danish merchant, investor, landowner and philanthropist. Early life and education Ole Berendt Suhr was born in Nyborg, where his father by the same name was a merchant and his mother Laurine Marie Müller (1795–1876) was a daughter of the wealthy merchant Rasmus Møller. Suhr moved to Copenhagen where he studied theology at the University of Copenhagen from 1832 to 1838 while at the same time training as a merchant in the family's trading house J. P. Suhr & Søn, which was managed by his uncle Johannes Theodorus Suhr. He soon won his uncle's respect and it was therefore decided that he was later to take over the company. Peder Brønnum Scavenius
Peder Brønnum Scavenius (6 January 1795 - 4 December 1868) was a Denmark, Danish landowner and politician. He was the owner of Gjorslev on the Stevns Peninsula, Klintholm Manor, Klintholm on Møn and Petersgaard at Vordingborg. He was an also involved in politics and by royal appointment a member of the Danish Constituent Assembly. Early life and career Scavenius was born on 6 January 1795 in Copenhagen, the eldest son of Jacob Brønnum Scavenius and Karine L. Debes. His father had purchased Gjorslev, Erikstrup and Søholm on Stevns from the Lindencrone family in 1793 after spending 14 years in the service of the Danish Asiatic Company in Bengal. Peder Brønnum Scavenius earned a law degree (cand.jur.) in 1816 and then worked for the Treasury until 1834. Hans Ditmar Frederik Feddersen
Hans Ditmar Frederik (Fritz) Feddersen (2 July 1805 – 12 May 1863) was a Danish civil servant and politician. He served as Governor of the Danish West Indies from 1851 to 1855. In 1860, he was elected as Member of Folketinget in Copenhagen's 3rd Constituency. Christian Wulff (1777–1843)
Christian Wulff (21 February 1777 – 17 March 1843) was a Danish naval officer. He commanded on her expedition to South America in 1840–41. He was the younger brother of Peter Frederik Wulff, who headed the Royal Danish Naval Academy from 1724 to 1841, and was the owner of Petersgaard at Vordingborg. Early life Wulff was born on 21 February 1777 in Copenhagen, the son of first lieutenant and later commandant Frederik Christian Wulff (1749–1812) and Kirstine Wulff née Johansen (1755–1829). Anna Ancher
Anna Ancher (18 August 1859 – 15 April 1935) was a Danish artist associated with the Skagen Painters, an artist colony on the northern point of Jylland, Denmark. She is considered to be one of Denmark's greatest visual artists. Background Anna Kirstine Brøndum was born in Skagen, Denmark, the daughter of Ane Hedvig Møller (1826–1916) and Erik Andersen Brøndum (1820–1890). She was the only one of the Skagen Painters who was born and grew up in Skagen, where her father owned the Brøndums Hotel. The artistic talent of Anna Ancher became obvious at an early age and she became acquainted with pictorial art via the many artists who settled to paint in Skagen, in the north of Jylland. Krabbesholm, Lejre Municipality
Krabbesholm is a manor house and estate located on the Hornsherred peninsula, between Skibby and Sæby, Lejre Municipality, some 50 kilometres west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The manor was detached from Egholm, Lejre Municipality, Egholm by Oluf Rosenkrantz in 1783 but the two estates had the same owners until 1806.
