Peterborough Town Cricket Club
Peterborough Town Cricket Club is part of City of Peterborough Sports Club based at Dalrod Sports Ground, Bretton, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England. Peterborough Town have two senior Saturday XI teams in the Northamptonshire Cricket League, a 3rd XI team in the Huntingdonshire County Cricket League, two Sunday XI teams in the Rutland and District Cricket League, and an established Junior Section, who play in the Higham & District Youth League. Ground Peterborough Town's 1st and 2nd XI play their home matches at the Dalrod Sports Ground, Bretton, and the 3rd XI use the Thomas Deacon Academy, Queen's Gardens, Peterborough. In 2005 they were one of the 1st clubs in the country to receive Clubmark accreditation from the ECB. The club was re-accredited in 2019. Bretton, Peterborough
Bretton is a settlement and civil parish on the north western edge of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. Bretton has been designed as a green environment; the major roads (Bretton Gate and Way) are tree-lined and there are several large parks and playing fields. Peterborough
Peterborough () is a cathedral city in Cambridgeshire, east of England. It is the largest part of the City of Peterborough unitary authority district (which covers a larger area than Peterborough itself). It was part of Northamptonshire until 1974, when county boundary change meant the city became part of Cambridgeshire instead. The ECB Premier Leagues are a series of regional cricket leagues organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that form the top tier of club cricket in England and Wales. The ECB published "Raising the Standard" in 1997, the ECB Management Board Blueprint for the Future Playing Structure of cricket. This introduced the concept of ECB Premier Leagues, designed to raise the playing standard of the top tier of club cricket and to bridge the gap between recreational cricket and the First Class game. Club cricket is a mainly amateur, but still formal, form of the sport of cricket, usually involving teams playing in competitions at weekends or in the evening. The Rutland and District Cricket League (RDCL) is a Sunday League that administer's cricket clubs that participate in the League, Cup and trophy competitions. ECB National Club Cricket Championship
The ECB National Club Cricket Championship is a forty over limited overs knockout club cricket competition in England. The most successful clubs have been Scarborough, from North Yorkshire, with five titles and Old Hill, from Staffordshire, with four. The 2019 champions were Swardeston, after they beat Nantwich by 53 runs in the final; the competition was not played in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition was originally only open to "senior" cricket sides (sides playing in the senior county leagues) and in 1972 the National Village Cup competition was formed for village sides unable to enter this competition.
