Peter Souter
Peter Souter (born 1962) is a British writer. He is the chairman and chief creative officer of TBWA London as well as the former executive creative director of Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO. He wrote the screenplay for the 2010 ITV six-episode comedy-drama television miniseries ''Married Single Other'' and also wrote the screenplay for the 2024 Netflix and Locksmith Animation film '' That Christmas''. Advertising career Souter began his career in advertising as a copywriter at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO in 1991, where he worked alongside Paul Brazier for 4 years. He then moved on to become deputy creative director in 1995, then executive creative director in 1997, taking over for David Abbott. In 2005 he worked on the 'Make Poverty History' campaign, which he said was the work of which he is most proud. Writing career Souter has written plays for radio, theatre and television. 2024 BFI London Film Festival
The 68th BFI London Film Festival was a film festival that took place from 9–20 October 2024. The competition films were announced on 29 August 2024 while the films for the galas and the strands were revealed on 4 September 2024. Steve McQueen (director), Steve McQueen's historical drama ''Blitz (2024 film), Blitz'' opened the festival on 9 October 2024, being the third film by McQueen to do so after ''Widows (2018 film), Widows'' in 2018 and ''Mangrove (film), Mangrove'' in 2020. That Christmas
''That Christmas'' is a 2024 animated Christmas fantasy comedy film directed by Simon Otto (in his directorial debut) and written by Richard Curtis and Peter Souter. Produced by Locksmith Animation, it follows entwined storylines based on short stories from ''That Christmas and Other Stories'' by Curtis and illustrator Rebecca Cobb. The voice cast features Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker and Bill Nighy. ''That Christmas'' premiered at the BFI London Film Festival on 19 October 2024, and was released on Netflix on 4 December. It received mixed reviews from critics. ''Married Single Other'' is a British six-episode comedy-drama television miniseries created and written by Peter Souter. The series is based on the lives of group of people who are either married, single or "other", other being defined as in a relationship. It began airing on Monday 22 February 2010 on ITV (TV network), ITV (except STV (TV channel), STV in central and northern Scotland). The drama series was later screened on STV from February 2012. The series was filmed on location in various areas of Leeds, while Left Bank Pictures television studios annexed to The Leeds Studios were used for interior shooting. David Abbott (advertising)
David John Abbott (11 October 1938 – 17 May 2014) was a British advertising executive who founded Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO. He was one of the most celebrated advertising executives in the world, and regarded as the greatest copywriter of his generation. Highlights of his career include the creation of the J.R. Hartley television commercial for Yellow Pages as well as work for Volkswagen, Volvo, The Economist, the RSPCA, Sainsbury's Supermarkets and Chivas Regal.
