Peter Perry (11 April 1936 – 19 April 2011) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Rotherham United and York City. He was a member of Rotherham United's 1961 Football League Cup Final The 1961 Football League Cup Final was the inaugural League Cup final. Peter Perry (politician)
Peter Perry (November 14, 1792 – August 24, 1851) was a politician and businessman in Upper Canada. Biography He was born in Ernestown, Upper Canada (now Bath, Ontario) in 1792, the son of Robert Perry and Jemima Gary Washburn. His father was a United Empire Loyalist from Vermont who had served with the Queen's Rangers and Edward Jessup's Loyal Rangers during the American Revolution. The family settled in Township No. 2, later Ernestown. His uncle was Ebenezer Washburn, a member of the Legislative Assembly who presented Prince Edward County. In 1814, he married Mary Polly Ham. In 1823, Perry took part in the protest against the removal of Marshall Spring Bidwell's name from the ballot in a by-election. In 1824, with Bidwell, he was elected to the 9th Parliament of Upper Canada representing Lennox and Addington Counties; both remained in office until 1836. Peter Perry was born in Washington, DC on October 31, 1969. He is a peace and social justice activist who has been affiliated with the National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance and the Washington Peace Center. Perry helped organize one of the protests on the second inauguration of President George W. Bush on January 20, 2005 in Washington DC. On February 9, 2005 Perry and activists David Barrows and Midge Potts protested US torture and the nomination and confirmation hearings of Alberto Gonzalez for United States Attorney General. The demonstration occurred on the steps of The United States Supreme Court. The three were subsequently convicted in DC Superior Court June 30, 2005 for violating Title 40 sec. 6135 of US Code. However, they appealed to DC Superior Court and on January 23, 2007 in that appeal, the Czech Ambassador to The United Nations, Martin Palous, appeared on their behalf.
