Peter Mann
Peter Travis Mann (born 7 September 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer. who played a total of 118 matches in the AFL for the North Melbourne and Fremantle Football Clubs. Peter is currently residing in Perth. Claremont and North Melbourne After playing 22 senior games in his debut season for Claremont, including their win in the WAFL Grand Final, Mann was drafted by the West Coast Eagles as a pre-draft priority selection in the 1989 VFL Draft. He remained on the Eagles' list for the 1990 season, but did not play a game for them. He was then traded to North Melbourne prior to the 1990 AFL Draft, in return for the 9th selection (which the Eagles used to draft Matt Clape). Mann played 39 games for the Kangaroos between 1991 and 1994, kicking 12 goals, but playing mainly at centre half back. 1989 VFL Draft
The 1989 VFL draft was the fourth annual national draft held by the Victorian Football League (since changed its name to Australian Football League) as the main method for the 14 teams to recruit players for the 1990 season. It consisted of a trading period, pre-draft selections, the main national draft and the 1990 pre-season draft and a non-compulsory 1990 mid-year draft. The minimum age for most draftees was 16 and clubs other than the West Coast Eagles were only allowed to choose one player each from Western Australia. For the non-Queensland and NSW clubs, players from those states had to be 19 to be selected, by which time the Brisbane Bears or Sydney Swans would have had three chances to recruit them. Matt Clape
Matt Clape (born 28 May 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton and West Coast in the Australian Football League. Clape got his first chance at AFL football with the West Coast Eagles as a half back flanker but was delisted after three seasons. He was given a second chance by Carlton when they picked him in the 1995 AFL Pre-Season Draft. In the club's premiership season of 1995, Clape featured prominently. Pushed up forward he kicked 7 straight goals and gathered 17 possessions in a round 15 game against Adelaide at Optus Oval. He played in the Grand Final and starred with 19 disposals. At the end of the year he had kicked 31 goals. 1990 AFL Draft
The 1990 AFL draft was the 5th annual draft of Australian rules footballers to the 14 clubs in the Australian Football League. It consisted of the national draft held at the end of the 1990 season, the pre-season draft held before the 1991 AFL season, and a mid-season draft. Clubs receive picks based on the reverse of the position in which they finish on the ladder during the season. This was introduced as an equalisation strategy in response to the increasing transfer fees and player salaries. National draft rules The minimum draft age for the 1990 national draft was 16.
