Peter MacGregor
Peter F. MacGregor (born February 24, 1966) is a Republican politician from Michigan currently serving as the Kent County Treasurer. He previously served in the Michigan Senate representing the 28th district and also was a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives representing northern Kent County. He is also a former trustee, planning commissioner, and supervisor of Cannon Township. A graduate of the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, MacGregor is a former small business owner and is involved in several local organizations. Michigan's 28th Senate District
Michigan's 28th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 28th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Democratic Samir Singh since 2023, succeeding Republican Mark Huizenga. Geography District 28 encompasses parts of Clinton, Ingham, and Shiawassee counties. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 28, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, covered the suburbs of Grand Rapids in Kent County, including the communities of Wyoming, Walker, Grandville, Rockford, Cedar Springs, Plainfield Township, Byron Township, Alpine Township, Algoma Township, Cannon Township, and Sparta Township. Kent County, Michigan
Kent County is located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 Census, the county had a population of 657,974, making it the fourth most populous county in Michigan, and the largest outside of the Detroit area. Its county seat is Grand Rapids. The county was set off in 1831, and organized in 1836. It is named for New York jurist and legal scholar James Kent, who represented the Michigan Territory in its dispute with Ohio over the Toledo Strip. Cannon Township is a civil township of Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 13,336 at the 2010 census. The township was organized as a survey township in 1845. It is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is located about northeast of the city of Grand Rapids. 2014 Michigan Senate Election
Elections for the Michigan Senate was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, with partisan primary elections to select the party's nominees held on August 5. All 38 seats in the Michigan Senate were contested, and those elected will serve in the 98th and 99th Michigan Legislatures. This was the first election for the Michigan Senate contested under the constituency boundaries drawn in consequence of the 2010 U.S. Census. The election resulted in the Republicans expanding their majority to 27 seats over the Democrats 11 seats. The Eli Broad College of Business is the business college at Michigan State University.
