Anne Elder Award
The Anne Elder Trust Fund Award for poetry was administered by the Victorian branch of the Fellowship of Australian Writers from its establishment in 1976 until 2017. From 2018 the award has been administered by Australian Poetry. It is awarded annually, as the Anne Elder Award, for the best first book of poetry published in Australia. Anna Couani
Anna Couani (born 6 April 1948) is a contemporary Australian poet and visual artist. Couani was born and grew up in Sydney, the eldest of four children of medical doctors John Couani and Stefania Siedlecky. Her families have Greek and Polish heritage. She studied architecture at the University of Sydney, then took a Diploma of Education (Art) at Sydney Teachers' College and later, an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Technology Sydney. Since the 1970s she has participated in feminist activism and small press publishing. She was President of the Sydney branch of the Poets Union in the 1980s. She was a secondary school teacher from 1972 to 2016, teaching art and ESL. In her educational work Couani published New South Wales Department of Education and Training booklets of worksheets for ESL learners. Angela Cavalieri
Angela Cavalieri (born 1962) is an Australian printmaker, whose work recreates text and narratives in visual form and was included in the Venice Biennale, 2011. Early life and education Cavalieri's parents migrated from Calabria, Italy, to Australia in the post-war period. She studied printmaking at the Victorian College of the Arts from 1981 to 1983. Career Cavalieri exhibited in solo and group exhibitions from 1984, and in 2011 was included in The Venice Biennale, Italian Pavillion In The World Project, 2011. She also won the Manly Library Artist Book Award in 2011. She has been awarded several prizes and has undertaken a number of artist residencies in Europe and Australia.
