Peter Hawkins
Peter John Hawkins (3 April 1924 – 8 July 2006) was a British actor. During the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, he was one of the most sought-after voice artists for radio and television, becoming a regular face and voice around the Soho-based circuit of commercial production studios, and working regularly with actors including Patrick Allen, Edward Judd, and Sir David Jason. Early life A policeman's son, Peter John Hawkins was born on 3 April 1924 in Brixton, south London. He made his first stage appearance as a member of the chorus in a musical sketch at school in Clapham. At 14, he wrote, with three friends, a revue entitled The Five Bs. He ran with the Herne Hill Harriers. Hawkins joined the Royal Navy, and survived, though shrapnel pierced his clothing when HMS ''Limbourne'' sank after being torpedoed. Brixton is a district in south London, part of the London Borough of Lambeth, England. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. Brixton experienced a rapid rise in population during the 19th century as communications with central London improved. ''SuperTed'' is a Welsh superhero animated television series about an anthropomorphic teddy bear with superpowers, created by writer and animator Mike Young. Originally created by Young as a series of stories to help his son overcome his fear of the dark, SuperTed became a popular series of books and led to an animated series produced from 1982 to 1986. An American-produced series, '' The Further Adventures of SuperTed'', was produced by Hanna Barbera in 1989. Access was a British credit card brand launched by Lloyds Bank, Midland Bank and National Westminster Bank in 1972 to rival the already established Barclaycard. ''Rainbow Brite'' is a media franchise by Hallmark Cards, introduced in 1984. The animated ''Rainbow Brite'' television series first aired in 1984, the same year Hallmark licensed Rainbow Brite to Mattel for a range of dolls and other merchandise. A theatrical feature-length film, ''Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer'', was released by Warner Bros. in 1985. ''The Tenth Planet'' is the partly missing second serial of the fourth season in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 8 to 29 October 1966. Roy Skelton
Roy William Skelton (20 July 1931 – 8 June 2011) was an English stage, screen and voice actor, whose voice was more familiar to television viewers than his name. Born in Nottingham to John H Skelton and Dorothy (née Bromley), he provided the voices for many characters on British television for nearly fifty years, particularly the characters of both Zippy and George on ''Rainbow'', which the actor first joined in the early 1970s and performed on until it was axed in 1991. However, due to the fame of the characters, he continued to voice Zippy and George in guest appearances on television in series such as ''The Weakest Link'' and ''TV Burp'' until his death. Skelton wrote over 40 episodes of ''Rainbow''. As well as providing the iconic ''Rainbow'' voices, Skelton also voiced several ''Doctor Who'' villains including the Daleks, Cybermen and the Krotons. Zippy (Rainbow)
Zippy is a fictional character on the British children's television programme ''Rainbow''. Zippy is a light-orange ("tangerine") puppet of ambiguous species with a rugby-ball-shaped oval head, blue eyes and a zip for a mouth, hence his name. His voice was first provided by Peter Hawkins in 1972. Hawkins was replaced by Roy Skelton in 1973, who continued to voice Zippy for the best part of thirty years and also provided the voice of George, the pink hippo. Cyberman
The Cybermen are a fictional race of cyborgs principally portrayed in the British science fiction television programme '' Doctor Who''. The Cybermen are a species of space-faring cyborgs who often forcefully and painfully convert human beings (or other similar species) into more Cybermen in order to populate their ranks while also removing their emotions and personalities.
