Peter Füri
Peter Füri (9 October 1937 – 11 May 2015) was a Swiss football player and manager, who played during the 1950s and 1960s. He died on 11 May 2015 at his home in Muttenz due to heart failure. Füri was born and brought up in Kleinbasel a quarter of Basel on the right hand side of the Rhine. He started his football at the small local club FC St. Clara and later joined the youth teams of FC Basel. During his active career Füri first played as a striker for FC Concordia Basel and later as a defender for FC La Chaux-de-Fonds and FC Basel. Füri joined Basel's first team for their 1961–62 season under trainer Jiří Sobotka. He played his domestic league debut for his new club in the away game on 5 November 1961 as Basel were beaten 0–1 by Young Fellows Zürich. He scored his first goal for his club on 11 March 1962 in the away game on 11 March 1962 as Basel drew 2–2 against Lugano. 1963–64 FC Basel Season
The 1963–64 season was Fussball Club Basel 1893's 70th season in their existence. It was their 18th consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football after their promotion in the 1945–46 season. They played their home games either in their old Landhof Stadium or in their new St. Jakob Stadium. Lucien Schmidlin was club chairman for the second year running. Overview Pre-season Jiří Sobotka continued his job as club manager, it was his third consecutive year as manager. Basel played a total of 55 games this season. Karl Odermatt
Karl Odermatt (born 17 December 1942 in Lucerne) is a Swiss former footballer who played for FC Basel and BSC Young Boys throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He played as a midfielder or striker and is generally regarded as one of the best players ever to have worn the FC Basel shirt. He played through, what is now thought to be, Basel's golden years under trainer and manager Helmut Benthaus with teammates such as Paul Fischli, René Hasler and Ottmar Hitzfeld.
