Biography Cox was born in Carlisle, Cumbria, England and brought up in Whitehaven until a nuclear accident at nearby Sellafield (the world's worst prior to Chernobyl) precipitated an abrupt family move to the North Norfolk coast. He grew up in a remote village, Walcott-On-Sea, and later became a self-employed photographer. When the North Sea gas and oil boom occurred, Cox undertook a growing amount of large-format industrial photography. Peter Francis Cox AO (4 December 1925 – 6 October 2008) was a politician in New South Wales, Australia. Early life Cox was born in Bathurst, New South Wales, and educated at Marist Brothers College in the Sydney suburb of Lidcombe. His father, Edwin, was a plumber with the NSW railways. Ben Chifley, the future prime minister, helped the Cox family. After leaving school, Peter became a public servant, working for the Department of Motor Transport in 1942. From 1943 until 1945 he was a member of the Second Australian Imperial Force and served in the Borneo campaign. Political career In 1949 Cox joined the Labor Party. He won preselection for the New South Wales state seat of Auburn at 39 and entered the Legislative Assembly at the 1965 election, when Labor, then led by Jack Renshaw, lost power. Peter John Cox (born 17 November 1955) is an English singer-songwriter, best known as the lead singer of the British pop duo Go West. As a solo artist, he scored three top 40 hits on the UK Singles Chart in the 1990s. Early career and Go West Peter John Cox sang in his school choir and later as a chorister at The Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace. In his early twenties, he worked in a covers band for The Mecca Organisation. In 1978, he joined Terra Nova, a band put together by former Manfred Mann's Earth Band members Chris Slade and Colin Pattenden; they released an album in 1980. While in residency in a Sheffield nightclub, Cox began writing with longtime collaborator Richard Drummie, with whom he eventually signed a publishing deal. In 1982, Cox and Drummie formed the band Go West, with Cox as lead singer and Drummie on guitar and backing vocals. Peter Arthur Cox (30 October 1922 – 17 November 2018) was a British civil engineer. Early life He was born in London in October 1922 and held a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.. Military career Cox served as a commissioned officer in the Royal Engineers during the Second World War, being promoted from cadet to lieutenant with 591st (Antrim) Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers, on 15 August 1943. He was wounded on 17 January 1945 when a pile of mines exploded. He served at the crossing of the Rhine ( Operation Varsity) on 24 March 1945 when his glider was the only one to arrive at the correct position at the bridges over the River Issel. He and his small party of Sappers were engaged in heavy fighting before the infantry captured the bridge and they could prepare it for demolition.
