Peter Bale
Bale at the Freedom of Expression Awards in April 2019 Peter Bale (born 15 September 1962) is a New Zealand-born journalist and editor. In August 2017 he was named the launch editor of ''WikiTribune'', a position he held only briefly. Bale previously served as director of the Center for Public Integrity from 2014–2016 after a long career in journalism. He lives in New Zealand. Early life and career Bale was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and grew up in One Tree Hill. He graduated from Penrose High School and started in journalism at the Auckland ''Western Leader''. Reuters ( ) is a news agency owned by Thomson Reuters Corporation. It employs around 2,500 journalists and 600 photojournalists in about 200 locations worldwide. Reuters is one of the largest news agencies in the world. The agency was established in London in 1851 by the German-born Paul Reuter. It was acquired by the Thomson Corporation of Canada in 2008 and now makes up the media division of Thomson Reuters. Panama Papers
The Panama Papers ( es, Papeles de Panamá) are 11.5 million leaked documents (or 2.6 terabytes of data) that were published beginning on April 3, 2016. The papers detail financial and attorney–client information for more than 214,488 offshore entities. The documents, some dating back to the 1970s, were created by, and taken from, former Panamanian offshore law firm and corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca. The documents contain personal financial information about wealthy individuals and public officials that had previously been kept private. The publication of these documents made it possible to establish the prosecution of Jan Marsalek, who is still a person of interest to a number of European governments due to his revealed links with Russian intelligence, and international financial fraudsters David and Josh Baazov. William Buzenberg
William "Bill" Buzenberg is a journalist and news executive. He is the former executive director of the Center for Public Integrity, a post from which he stepped down at the end of 2014. Education Buzenberg is a graduate of Kansas State University. He is a former Peace Corps volunteer, and he has been awarded fellowships at the University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University. Career Buzenberg worked for National Public Radio from 1978 to 1997, serving as a foreign affairs correspondent and London bureau chief before becoming Vice President of News. WikiTribune (stylized as WikiTRIBUNE) was a news wiki where volunteers wrote and curated articles about widely publicised news by proof-reading, fact-checking, suggesting possible changes, and adding sources from other, usually long established outlets. Wairarapa Times-Age
The ''Wairarapa Times-Age'' is the regional daily paper for New Zealand's Wairarapa where it is prepared, and published in Masterton. Though its roots are deep in Wairarapa's community, it joined a national combine in 2002 only to leave the combine in 2016, with its proprietors now entirely Wairarapa residents. History Of the first newspapers published in the region, the ''Wairarapa Mercury'' (later ''Standard''), the ''Wairarapa News'', the ''Wairarapa Register'' and the ''Newsletter'', all, except the ''Newsletter'' were forced to close down by fires in 1937, 1872 and 1878 respectively.
