Peter Baker (footballer, Born 1931)
Peter Baker (10 December 1931 – 27 January 2016) was an English footballer. Educated at Southgate County School in North London, he played right-back for Tottenham Hotspur and was part of the double-winning side of 1960-61 and won the FA Cup with Spurs in 1962. He played 299 league games for Tottenham scoring three goals. Playing career Baker joined Tottenham Hotspur from non-League club Enfield in October 1952. After a slow start at Spurs he gained a place in the first team and quickly improved and went on to play a key role in the Spurs Double-winning side of 1960–61. He stayed with them until the end of the 1964-65 season, keeping a regular place in the team from the 1960–61 season until the end of the 1963-64 season, when he was replaced by Cyril Knowles. After leaving White Hart Lane Baker emigrated to South Africa, where he joined Durban United F.C. and later became the club's manager. Peter Anthony Baker (born 18 September 1945 – 3 October 2000) was an English cricketer. Baker was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break, although he primarily played as a wicketkeeper. He was born at Crowthorne, Berkshire and educated at Cheltenham College. Baker made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Berkshire in 1962 against Dorset. From 1962 to 1978, he represented the county in 40 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came in the 1978 Championship when Berkshire played Buckinghamshire. Additionally, he also played 2 List-A matches for Berkshire. His List-A debut for the county came against Hertfordshire in the 1st round of the 1966 Gillette Cup. His second and final List-A match came in the 2nd round of the same competition when Berkshire played Gloucestershire at Church Road Cricket Ground, Reading. Peter Alan Baker (born 7 October 1967) is an English professional golfer. He had three wins on the European Tour, one in 1988 and two in 1993. He represented Europe in the 1993 Ryder Cup. Amateur career Baker learned golf at his father's nine-hole Himley Hall course and was taught by Sandy Lyle's father Alex. In 1985, he was the joint winner of the Brabazon Trophy, after a tie with Roger Roper. He represented Great Britain & Ireland in the 1985 Walker Cup and turned professional the following year. Professional career Baker was a consistent performer on the European Tour from the late 1980s until the early years of the new Millennium, with three tournament wins on the tour and a highest Order of Merit finish of seventh in 1993. Peter Baker (April 1887 – November 13, 1973), born Bedouin Ferran, also known as Ahmad Ali Ferran and Faron Ahmed upon death, was a Lebanese-born Canadian trader, politician, and author. As the first Muslim elected to public office in Canada, he played a fundamental role in the history of Islam in the Arctic and Subarctic regions. Early life Baker was born in 1887 as Bedouin Ferran or as Ahmad Ali Ferran on the territory of Levant, which is now Lebanon. At the turn of the century, he emigrated to Canada from the Turkish (Ottoman) conscription for young Arabs whom Turkey made to fight against the Yemenis. Ferran worked at a Holy Cross College as a labourer, and in 1909, was given his anglicised name by the college's Catholic priest. Thereonafter, he moved to the province of Alberta. Bateman came up with the concept of the show during a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales, where he noticed locals were complaining about the construction of a foster home and against the idea of foster children from the city living in the area. The soap opera was initially going to be called ''Refuge'', but the name was changed to the "friendlier" title of ''Home and Away'' once production began. Peter Baker (1731–1796) was an English slave trader. He formed the Liverpool slave trading company Baker and Dawson with his son-in-law John Dawson. In the period between 1783 and 1792, Baker and Dawson was the largest company of slave traders in England. They had an exclusive contract with the Spanish government to supply enslaved people to the Spanish colonies. In 1795, he became Mayor of Liverpool.
