Pete Glenister
Pete Glenister is an English guitarist, songwriter and producer, known for his work with Alison Moyet and Kirsty MacColl. He has also worked with a number of other artists including Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Bruce Foxton, Terence Trent D'Arby, Bros, E. G. Daily, Mary Coughlan, Geoffrey Williams, Five Thirty, Bryan Ferry and Raphael Gualazzi. Background Glenister was the guitarist in the new wave band The Hitmen, who produced two albums, ''Aim for the Feet'' (1980) and ''Torn Together'' (1981). He went on to form a long creative partnership with Kirsty MacColl, contributing guitar and co-writings songs with the singer, which were included on her albums, ''Kite'' (1989), '' Electric Landlady'' (1991), ''Titanic Days'' (1993) and ''Tropical Brainstorm'' (2000). The Hitmen (British Band)
The Hitmen were an England, English New wave music, new wave band formed in 1979. They released seven Single (music), singles and two albums on the Columbia Records, Columbia record label, label. Members of the band would later go on to have successful careers in other notable bands and in music production. Tropical Brainstorm
''Tropical Brainstorm'' is the fifth and final studio album by Kirsty MacColl, released in 2000. It was inspired by her trips to Cuba, and many tracks include Spanish or Portuguese lyrics. The album was released with three extra tracks in the US. The album was released on vinyl for the first time in October 2021 for National Album Day. Composition and recording MacColl stated that, in spite of the role Cuban music played in inspiring her songwriting, her goal was not "to recreate an authentic sound", offering two reasons: "first of all cos I'm not Celia Cruz, and a lot of people like my music mostly because of the lyrics. I didn't want to try and fail at being the Buena Vista Social Club. I wanted to succeed at being Kirsty MacColl". ''Push'' is the debut album by British pop band Bros and was released on 28 March 1988 on CBS. The album peaked at number two in the UK Albums Chart and was certified quadruple platinum in the UK. It was also a worldwide success, reaching number one in New Zealand, and the top ten in Australia and several countries in Europe. In late 2013, a 25th anniversary 3-CD remastered and expanded edition of ''Push'' was released on the Cherry Pop record label, a subsidiary of Cherry Red Records. It was released in July 1987 on Columbia Records, and debuted at number one in the UK, spending a total of nine weeks (non-consecutively) at the top of the UK Albums Chart. It hit number 1 in Australia and Switzerland. It was eventually certified 5× Platinum (for sales of 1.5 million copies). ''Dou3le'' is the second and final studio album by Swiss musical duo Double, released in 1987 by Metronome. Despite including the acclaimed single " Devils Ball", it failed to emulate the success of its predecessor ''Blue''. Background and release Having finished extensive promotion for their previous album, ''Blue'', and the commercially successful single " The Captain of Her Heart", Double soon returned to the studio to record their next album ''Dou3le''. It was recorded between February and June 1987 at Powerplay Studios in Maur, Switzerland, at Britannia Row Studios in London and at A&M Studios in Los Angeles. Double (band)
Double was a Swiss music duo best known for their hit single " The Captain of Her Heart". Biography The duo was formed in 1983 in Zürich, Switzerland, by Felix Haug (drums and keyboards) and Kurt Maloo (guitar and vocals) out of the trio Ping Pong of which both Maloo and Haug were members. Ping Pong formed in 1981, and had some early success with a single entitled "Rhythm Walk". They also recorded with Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, though due to legal issues none of their collaborations were able to be released. Ping Pong had some success with singles and several appearances around Europe in music festivals. Prior to releasing their debut album, the duo issued a few singles, of which "Naningo", "Rangoon Moon", and "Woman of the World" were the most popular. Bronski Beat
Bronski Beat were a British synthpop trio which achieved success in the mid-1980s, particularly with the 1984 chart hit "Smalltown Boy", from their debut album '' The Age of Consent''. "Smalltown Boy" was their only US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 single. All members of the band were openly gay and their songs reflected this, often containing political commentary on gay-related issues. The initial line-up, which recorded the majority of the band's hits, consisted of Jimmy Somerville (vocals), Steve Bronski (born Steven William Forrest, keyboards, percussion) and Larry Steinbachek (keyboards, percussion). ''Touch Sensitive'' is the debut solo studio album by English rock musician Bruce Foxton, released on 12 May 1984 by Arista Records. Two tracks, "It Makes Me Wonder" and "Trying to Forget You (Vocal Mix)" were co-written by Foxton and Pete Glenister. The remainder of the songs are credited solely to Foxton himself.
