Pete Brungardt
Peter F. Brungardt (born January 30, 1947) is a former Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Kansas Senate, representing the Kansas's 24th Senate district, 24th district from 2001 to 2013. His previous political experiences include the Salina, Kansas, Salina City Planning Commission (1986–1991), Salina City Commission (1991–1999), and Mayor of Salina (1993–1994, 1998–1999). An optometrist, he is married to Rosie Brungardt. It has been represented by Republican Party (United States), Republican former Kansas House of Representatives, State Representative J. R. Claeys. Ben Vidricksen
Benjamin Eugene Vidricksen (June 11, 1927–September 14, 2015) was an American politician who served for over two decades as a Republican in the Kansas State Senate, from 1979 to 2000. Personal life Vidricksen was born on his family's farm near New Cambria, Kansas. After graduating from high school in 1944, Vidricksen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his 16 months in the South Pacific, he returned to Kansas and enrolled in Kansas Wesleyan University, earning a bachelor's degree in pre-law in 1951. During this period, he met and married Lola Nienke; the marriage lasted until her death in 1992. After a stint working in O'Neill, Nebraska as a dairy manager, he returned to Kansas in 1958 to go into business with his brother Robert and their mother Ruby, owning and operating several restaurants in Salina and a catering business (his brother was inducted into the Kansas Restaurant Hall of Fame in 1980). Tom Arpke
Tom Arpke (born February 6, 1952) is a former Republican member of the Kansas Senate, representing the 24th district from 2013 to 2017. The American Conservative Union gave him a lifetime rating of 84%. Arpke is a Salina travel agent and consultant, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Florida State University. Salina, Kansas
Salina is a city in, and the county seat of, Saline County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 46,889. In the early 1800s, the Kanza tribal land reached eastward from the middle of the Kansas Territory. In 1858, settlers from Lawrence founded the Salina Town Company with a wagon circle, under constant threat of High Plains tribal attacks from the west. It was named for the salty Saline River. Saline County was soon organized around this township, and in 1870, Salina incorporated as a city. As the westernmost town on the Smoky Hill Trail, Salina boomed until the Civil War by establishing itself as a trading post for westbound immigrants, gold prospectors bound for Pikes Peak, and area American Indian tribes.
