Petar Kosić
Petar Kosić ( Bujačić near Valjevo, Principality of Serbia, 13 May 1881 – Belgrade, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia, 18 May 1949) was a high-ranking officer of the Royal Serbian Army and an army general of the Royal Yugoslav Army who was against going to war with Nazi Germany. During his service as Minister of War and Chief of the General Staff, and on 27 March 1941, he was replaced and retired after the Yugoslav coup d'état led by his classmate, Army General Dušan Simović, who took over as chief of staff and became prime minister of the country. Biography He was born on 13 May 1881 in the village of Bujačić near Valjevo, to father Vićentije, a farmer, and mother Milenija. After graduating from high school in Valjevo, he joined the army in 1898, as a cadet of the 31st class of the Artillery School of the Military Academy. Royal Yugoslav Army
The Yugoslav Army ( sh-Latn-Cyrl, Jugoslovenska vojska, JV, Југословенска војска, ЈВ), commonly the Royal Yugoslav Army, was the land warfare military service branch of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia (originally Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes). It existed from the Kingdom's formation in December 1918, until its surrender to the Axis powers on 17 April 1941. Aside from fighting along the Austrian border in 1919–20 related to territorial disputes, and some border skirmishes on its southern borders in the 1920s, the JV was not involved in fighting until April 1941 when it was quickly overcome by the German-led invasion of Yugoslavia. Vranje
Vranje ( sr-Cyrl, Врање, ) is a city in Southern Serbia and the administrative center of the Pčinja District. The municipality of Vranje has a population of 83,524 and its urban area has 60,485 inhabitants. Vranje is the economical, political and cultural centre of the Pčinja District in Southern Serbia. Pirot ( sr-cyr, Пирот) is a city and the administrative center of the Pirot District in southeastern Serbia. According to 2011 census, the urban area of the city has a population of 38,785, while the population of the city administrative area has 57,928 inhabitants. Priboj ( sr-Cyrl, Прибој, ) is a town and municipality located in the Zlatibor District of southwestern Serbia. The population of the town is 14,920, while the population of the municipality is 27,133. A non-commissioned officer (NCO) is a military officer who has not pursued a commission. Non-commissioned officers usually earn their position of authority by promotion through the enlisted ranks. (Non-officers, which includes most or all enlisted personnel, are of lower rank than any officer.)
