Persil (band)
Persil are a two piece electronic guitar pop band from Amsterdam. Band members David: guitar, keyboard, bass, drum programming. Martine: vocals, keyboards, sampler. History Persil made its BBC Radio 1 debut in 1998, when John Peel played a track from the band's first demo in his show. Over the years John Peel played dozens of Persil tracks in his BBC shows, including eight tracks from Persil's first album ''Duotone''. Persil recorded three Peel sessions. Persil's debut album ''Duotone'' was released on Transformed Dreams in 2004. Since the album release Persil has played numerous gigs in the UK, Netherlands and USA, including showcases at the SXSW Festival in Texas, USA (2004), at the In The City Festival in Manchester, UK (2004), at the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, the Netherlands (2006) and at the Go North Festival in Aberdeen, UK (2006). John Peel
John Robert Parker Ravenscroft (30 August 1939 – 25 October 2004), known professionally as John Peel, was an English disc jockey (DJ) and radio presenter. He was the longest-serving of the original BBC Radio 1 DJs, broadcasting regularly from 1967 until his death in 2004. Peel was one of the first broadcasters to play psychedelic rock and progressive rock records on British radio. He is widely acknowledged for promoting artists of multiple genres, including pop, dub reggae, punk rock and post-punk, electronic music and dance music, indie rock, extreme metal and British hip hop. Fellow DJ Paul Gambaccini described Peel as "the most important man in music for about a dozen years". Blondie (band)
Blondie is an American Rock music, rock band co-founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band was a pioneer in the American New wave music, new wave scene of the mid-1970s in New York. Their first two albums contained strong elements of Punk rock, punk and new wave, and although highly successful in the UK and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground music, underground band in the U.S. until the release of ''Parallel Lines'' in 1978. The Wedding Present are an English indie rock group originally formed in 1985 in Leeds, England, from the ashes of The Lost Pandas. The band's music has evolved from fast-paced indie rock in the vein of their most obvious influences The Fall, Buzzcocks and Gang of Four to more varied forms. Split Album
A split album (or split) is a music album that includes tracks by two or more separate artists. Beachwood Sparks
Beachwood Sparks are an American alternative country band from Los Angeles. An article in ''The Daily Telegraph'' on America's underground psychedelic pop scene described Beachwood Sparks as "country through a kaleidoscope". Biography The band was formed by bassist Brent Rademaker and guitarist Christopher Gunst who met in the 1990s when both were members of Los Angeles indie-rock group Further. Guitarist Dave Scher and drummer Jimi Hey (who played with Gunst in Strictly Ballroom) were recruited before the band's first show in June 1997. Hey suggested the band's name by combining Sparks Street, where Brent Rademaker lived in Burbank, with Beachwood Street, which runs parallel and adjacent to Sparks. Hey left after a few shows and was replaced by Tom Sanford.
