Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Balikpapan, commonly known as Persiba Balikpapan, is an professional football club based in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The club plays in Liga 2, after relegation from Liga 1 in 2017 season. The club is nicknamed ''Beruang Madu'' (The Sun Bear), taken from the city mascot of Balikpapan. Founded in 1950 and the club play their home games at the Batakan Stadium, which has a capacity of 40,000. In media, the tautology is often used and to distinguish the club with another club with the same acronym, Persiba Bantul. Another nickname given is ''Selicin Minyak'' (slippery as oil) because Balikpapan is the center for oil and gas industry of Indonesia. Persiba play in all-blue kits at home matches. Bantul
Bantul is a town and district, and the capital of Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The district (''kapanewon'') covers an area of and had a population of 64,360 at the 2020 Census. It is a bustling town about to the south of Yogyakarta, easily reached by regular minibuses from the main Yogyakarta bus station. Putra Samarinda Football Club was an Indonesian football club located in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. Nicknamed ''Pesut Mahakam'', they won the Liga Indonesia Premier Division title in the 2008–09 season. History Early years (1989–2003) The club was formed in 1989 as Putra Samarinda Football Club, or often called Pusam, by a local businessman, Harbiansyah Hanafiah, to competed in semi-professional competition Galatama. But when the top two competitions in Indonesia, Perserikatan and Galatama, merged to form Liga Indonesia, Pusam suffered a financial crisis throughout the time. In 2000, they were forced to withdraw from the Premier Division and were sentenced to drop to First Division. Perserikatan is a term that commonly refers to national amateur association football, football competitions in Indonesia held between 1931 and 1994 before the formation of Liga Indonesia, organized by the PSSI, the Indonesian football federation. The competition involved hundreds clubs in Indonesia and was divided into several levels. In English language, English, the term ''Perserikatan'' may literally translate to ''inter-association football championship'' as this competition involved all regional-level football associations in Indonesia.
