Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole
The Communauté urbaine Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole is the ''communauté urbaine'', an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Perpignan. It is located in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, in the Occitanie region, southern France. It was created in January 2016, replacing the previous ''communauté d'agglomération Perpignan Méditerranée''. Its area is 616.7 km2. Its population was 268,445 in 2018, of which 119,188 in Perpignan proper.Comparateur de territoire

Perpignan
Perpignan (, , ; ca, Perpinyà ; es, Perpiñán ; it, Perpignano ) is the prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France, in the heart of the plain of Roussillon, at the foot of the Pyrenees a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea and the scrublands of the Corbières massif. It is the centre of the Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole metropolitan area. In 2016 Perpignan had a population of 121,875 (''Perpignanais(e)'' in French, ''Perpinyanés(a)'' in Catalan) in the commune proper, and the metropolitan area had a total population of 268,577, making it the last major French city before the Spanish border. Perpignan is also sometimes seen as the "Entrance" of the Iberian Peninsula. Perpignan was the capital of the former province and County of Roussillon (''Rosselló'' in Catalan) and continental capital of the Kingdom of Majorca in the 13th and 14th centuries. Peyrestortes (; ca, Paretstortes) is a commune in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France. Geography Peyrestortes is located in the canton of Le Ribéral and in the arrondissement of Perpignan. History Battle On 17 September 1793, French forces of the Army of the Eastern Pyrenees defeated two divisions of the Spanish Army of Catalonia at the Battle of Peyrestortes. Opoul-Périllos
Opoul-Périllos (; oc, Òpol i Perellós, ) is a commune in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France. Geography Opoul-Périllos is located in the canton of La Vallée de l'Agly and in the arrondissement of Perpignan. The commune's highest point, Montoliu de Perellós (707 meters, a summit located next to the river Aude), stands as the northernmost point in Catalan-speaking countries. Opoul-Périllos spreads over a large area of 5,053 hectares (12,486 acres).
