Pere Macias i Arau (born 14 June 1956 Olot), is a Catalan language, Catalan politician, deputy to the Parliament of Catalonia and to the Congress of Deputies (Spain), Parliament and senator. Biography Pere Macias is an Engineer of Channels and Ports and teacher at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Polytechnical University of Catalonia. He is a member of Democratic Convergence of Catalonia since the 1977. He was mayor of Olot from March 1984 until June 1996. Artur Mas
Artur Mas i Gavarró (; born 31 January 1956) is a Spanish politician from Catalonia. He was president of the Government of Catalonia from 2010 to 2015 and acting president from September 2015 to 12 January 2016. Mas is a long time member of Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC by its Catalan acronym) which used to be the bigger of the two component members –along with Unió Democràtica de Catalunya– of what at the time was a long-standing electoral coalition, Convergència i Unió (CiU), a liberal nationalist coalition which had dominated Catalan regional politics since the 1980s. In 2001 Mas was named general secretary of CDC, then, in 2012 he was named president of the party until the party was refounded in July 2016 as PDeCAT, which he presided between July 2016 and January 2018. 2011 Spanish General Election
The 2011 Spanish general election was held on Sunday, 20 November 2011, to elect the 10th Cortes Generales of the Kingdom of Spain. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 208 of 266 seats in the Senate. An election had not been due until April 2012 at latest, but a call by Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero for a snap election five months ahead of schedule was announced on 29 July 2011. Zapatero would not be seeking a third term in office, and with political pressure mounting, a deteriorating economic situation and his political project exhausted, an early election was perceived as the only way out. The election campaign was dominated by the effects of an ongoing financial crisis, high unemployment, a large public deficit and a soaring risk premium. Josep Antoni Duran i Lleida (born 27 March 1952 in Alcampell, Spain) is a Spanish politician. A qualified lawyer, Duran began his political career when he was elected Member of Parliament, MP in the General Elections of Spain in 1979, representing Lleida (Spanish Congress Electoral District), Lleida becoming ''tinent d'alcalde'' in the municipality of Lleida. Currently Duran is an MP for Barcelona (Spanish Congress Electoral District), Barcelona district, elected in the General Elections in 2004, and is a member of Convergence and Union (CiU). Duran i Lleida has also been the president of Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC), a political party which is part of CiU, since 1987 and also from 1982 to 1984.
