2011 Spanish General Election
A General elections in Spain, general election was held in Spain on Sunday, 20 November 2011, to elect the members of the 10th . All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 208 of 266 seats in the Senate of Spain, Senate. An election had not been due until early 2012, but a call by Prime Minister of Spain, Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero for a snap election five months ahead of schedule was announced on 29 July 2011. Zapatero did not be seek a third term in office, and with political pressure mounting, worsening economic conditions, and his political project exhausted, an early election was perceived as the only way out. Barcelona (Congress Of Deputies Constituency)
Barcelona is one of the 52 constituencies () represented in the Congress of Deputies, the lower chamber of the Spanish parliament, the Cortes Generales. The constituency currently elects 32 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Barcelona. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of three percent. Rosa Díez
Rosa María Díez González (born 27 May 1952) is a Spanish politician from Union, Progress and Democracy, UPyD deputy in the Congress of Deputies from 2008 to 2016. When she was a member of the PSOE, she defined herself as a social democrat exclusively. However, her way of thinking evolved towards both social democracy and political liberalism and, consequently, she defined herself as a social liberal politician who endorses free-market economics, civil liberties and the welfare state when she was UPyD's leader and spokesperson. Likewise, Rosa Díez went from being an autonomist for most of her socialist period to defending centralism, thereby being this difference regarding the form of State, as well as her rejection of anti-terrorist policy of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero's socialist government, the main reason why she left the PSOE. Aralar (Basque Political Party)
Aralar was a Basque socialist and separatist political party in Spain. It was opposed to the violent struggle of ETA. History Aralar was born in the 1990s from a critical tendency within Herri Batasuna (HB) and Euskal Herritarrok (EH), led by Patxi Zabaleta. The tendency had its main base in Navarre. The breaking of ETA's truce in 2000 provoked Herri Batasuna's reformation into Batasuna, to have presence in all Euskal Herria. Following disagreements over the internal organization of Batasuna, Aralar broke away to form a separate political party. In 2004 the youth wing of Aralar, Iratzarri, was founded. In the May 2003 election for the Navarre Assembly, Aralar obtained 24,068 votes (8.02% of the valid votes) and four seats and in the same community obtained 4.76% of the valid votes in the municipal elections and 18 local councillors. Eusko Alkartasuna (; ; ; ) is a Basque nationalist and social-democratic political party operating in Spain and France. The Basque language name means ''Basque Solidarity'' and abbreviated as EA. The party describes itself as a " Basque nationalist, democratic, popular, progressive and non-denominational party". The party has adopted the slogan "Euskal Sozialdemokrazia" ("Basque social democracy").
