Per Wendelbo. Per Wendelbo (5 September 1866 – 26 February 1937) was a Norwegian newspaper editor. He was born as Peder Haraldsen in Skien as a son of Peder Haraldsen, Sr. (1813–1887) og Caroline Mathilde Pedersen (1828–1907). In May 1890 in Kalmar he married Swedish citizen Ellen Lindquist (1865–1952). He took the cand.jur. degree in 1889. He edited the weekly magazine ''Norske Gutter'' from 1897 to 1917, was the foreign affairs editor in ''Morgenbladet'' from 1900 to 1918, then editor and chief administrative officer of the Norwegian News Agency from 1918 to 1937. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Paper editions 1978–2007 The ''SNL'' was created in 1978, when the two publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal merged their encyclopedias and created the company Kunnskapsforlaget. Up until 1978 the two publishing houses of Aschehoug and Gyldendal, Norway's two largest, had published ' and ', respectively. The respective first editions were published in 1907–1913 (Aschehoug) and 1933–1934 (Gyldendal). Thoralf Pryser
Thoralf Pryser (10 August 1885 – 8 July 1970) was a Norwegian journalist and newspaper editor. Personal life Pryser was born in Drammen, a son of Gustav Fredrik Pryser and Caroline Johanne Grimlund. He married Laila Meyer in 1912. His wife died in 1944. In 1951 he married Elisabeth Lie. He died in July 1970. Career Pryser worked as journalist for ''Verdens Gang (1868–1923), Verdens Gang'' from 1910, for ''Morgenbladet'' from 1911, and for ''Aftenposten'' from 1913. He was chief editor of the newspaper ''Morgenposten'' from 1918 to 1946, except for 1943-1945 when ''Morgenposten'' had installed a Nazi editor. He chaired the Norwegian Press Association from 1924 to 1928. Carl Jeppesen
Carl Jeppesen (16 March 1858 – 26 January 1930) was a Danish-born Norwegian worker, newspaper editor and politician. He edited the newspaper ''Social-Demokraten'' from 1887 to 1892, and from 1906 to 1912. He was among the founders of the Norwegian Labour Party, and served as chairman for two periods, from 1890 to 1892, and from 1894 to 1897. He was Mayor of Kristiania from 1917 to 1919. Personal life Jeppesen was born in Copenhagen as the son of Jens Jeppesen and Marie Fredrikke Petrine Tauer. He grew up in Copenhagen with adoptive parents, having been adopted as a one-year-old child. He married Hulda Johanne Schmidt in 1878. He died in Oslo in 1930. Career Jeppesen started working as a cigar riddler. After periods of unemployment he settled in Kristiania in 1878, working as brushmaker. Skien
Skien () is a city and municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county in Norway. In modern times it is regarded as part of the traditional region of Grenland, although historically it belonged to Grenmar/Skiensfjorden, while Grenland referred the Norsjø area and Bø. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Skien. Skien is also the capital of Vestfold og Telemark county. ''Morgenbladet'' is a Norwegian weekly, newspaper, covering politics, culture and science. History ''Morgenbladet'' was founded in 1819 by the book printer Niels Wulfsberg. The paper is the country's first daily newspaper; however, Adresseavisen was founded earlier. For a long time, ''Morgenbladet'' was also the country's top-ranking newspaper by circulation. Adolf Bredo Stabell, chief editor from 1831 to 1857, made ''Morgenbladet'' an important force of opposition, both in politics and literature.
