Pelle Almqvist
Per "Pelle" Almqvist (born 29 May 1978), also known as Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, is a Swedish singer and songwriter. He is the lead singer of garage rock band The Hives. Biography Almqvist was born to a doctor father and a teacher mother. Almqvist and his brother Niklas Almqvist, Nicholaus Arson formed the band in 1993, and, according to a fictional biography about the band, attracted the attention of promoter/manager/songwriter Randy Fitzsimmons. Prior to success with the Hives he worked as a postman and a sixth-grade teacher. Almqvist is known for being particularly animated during live shows, and his onstage antics have earned the band the title of "The best live band in the world" from ''Spin Magazine'', which also puts Almqvist in their list of the "50 Greatest Frontmen of All Time". Per Bang (29 November 1922 – 24 April 2010) was a Norwegian journalist. He worked in ''Dagens Næringsliv'' from 1946 to 2006, and became known for his column ''På nattbordet''. Career He was born in Oslo, and was a bookseller's apprentice when World War II broke out. In 1943 he was taken as a "hostage" by the Nazi German occupants of Norway, imprisoned at Bredtveit concentration camp from 27 February to 5 April and then at Grini concentration camp to 20 December 1943. After the war he considered finishing secondary education, but instead worked in the newspaper '' Jarlsberg'' from 1945 to 1947. In 1946 he was hired in ''Norges Handels og Sjøfartstidende'', later named ''Dagens Næringsliv'', where he worked until 2006, from 1956 to 1974 as London correspondent. He was formally a freelancer since 1989, and when retiring he was one of Norway's oldest active journalists. Per Bak (8 December 1948 – 16 October 2002) was a Danish theoretical physicist who coauthored the 1987 academic paper that coined the term " self-organized criticality." Life and work After receiving his Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark in 1974, Bak worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He specialized in phase transitions, such as those occurring when an insulator suddenly becomes a conductor or when water freezes. In that context, he also did important work on complicated spatially modulated (magnetic) structures in solids. This research led him to the more general question of how organization emerges from disorder. Per Aunet (born 14 April 1940, in Stjørdal) is a Norwegian politician for the Socialist Left Party, an environmentalist in the Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature (NNV) and an associate professor in biology at Nord-Trøndelag University College. History He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Nord-Trøndelag in 1989, but was not re-elected in 1993. Aunet was a member of Levanger municipality council in the periods 1975–1979, 1979–1983, 1987–1989 and 1995–1999. He chaired the local party chapter from 1984 to 1987 and from 1997 to 1999. Per Daniel Amadeus Atterbom (19 January 1790 in Åsbo, Östergötland – 21 July 1855) was a Swedish romantic poet, and a member of the Swedish Academy. Life He was son of a country parson, was born in the province of Ostergotland on 19 January 1790. He studied in the university of Uppsala from 1805 to 1815, and became professor of philosophy there in 1828. He was the first great poet of the romantic movement which, inaugurated by the critical work of Lorenzo Hammarsköld, was to revolutionize Swedish literature.
