Peperomia Nitida
''Peperomia nitida'' is a species of plant in the genus ''Peperomia''. Its Endemism, native range is in South America from Brazil to northern Argentina. It can be kept as a houseplant and is sometimes sold as cupid peperomia, or problematically as Peperomia scandens or Peperomia serpens. Description ''Peperomia serpens'' is a separate species with slightly more rounded leaves and its native region reaches further north to Mexico. The title ''scandens'' is occasionally applied to both, perhaps because both are vining plants (latin term wiktionary:scandens, ''scandens'' means "climbing"), but officially ''Peperomia scandens'' is considered a synonym for ''Peperomia serpens''. Gustav Adolf Hugo Dahlstedt
Gustav Adolf Hugo Dahlstedt (8 February 1856, Linköping – 2 October 1934, Lidingö) was a Swedish botanist who worked at the Bergianska trädgården, Bergianska Trädgården and Swedish Museum of Natural History, Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet in Stockholm. In 1907 he received his honorary doctorate. Dahlstedt specialized in research of the plant genera ''Taraxacum'' and ''Hieracium'', of which he circumscribed many species. The botanical genus ''Dahlstedtia'' from the subfamily Faboideae is named in his honor, as are taxa with the specific taxa of ''dahlstedtii'', an example being ''Taraxacum dahlstedtii'', a plant sometimes referred to as "Dahlstedt's dandelion". Peperomia
''Peperomia'' is one of the two large genera of the family Piperaceae. It is estimated that there are at least over 1,000 species, occurring in all tropical and subtropical regions of the world. They are concentrated in northern South America and Central America, but are also found in Africa, southern Asia, and Oceania. The exact number is difficult to tell as some plants have been recorded several times with different names (c. 3,000 names have been used in publications) and new species continue to be discovered. Peperomias have adapted to many different environments and their appearance varies greatly. Some are epiphytes (growing on other plants) or lithophytes (growing on rock or in rock crevices), and many are xerophytes (drought-tolerant) either with thick succulent structures or with underground tubers (geophytes). ''Peperomia serpens'', the vining peperomia, is a species of flowering plant in the genus ''Peperomia'' and family Piperaceae, native to the New World Tropics. The plant is perennial. The name ''Peperomia serpens'' has in the past also been used to describe ''Peperomia dimota'' and ''Peperomia subrotundifolia''.
