People's Council Of The Donetsk People's Republic
The People's Council (russian: Народный Совет, Narodny Sovet), formerly the Supreme Council (russian: Высший Совет, Vysshy Sovet), is the regional parliament of the Donetsk People's Republic, a disputed entity annexed as a federal subject by Russia from Ukraine in 2022 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The "parliament" is an absurd and mock structure, according to blogger Stanislav Vasyn. History The first legislative body of the Donetsk People's Republic was the Supreme Council (russian: Верховный Совет), which was established by pro-Russian protesters in early April 2014. It is not clear as to what the composition of this body was. That body adopted a constitution on 14 May 2014, after having held a referendum on independence from Ukraine. Vladimir Anatoliyevich Bidyovka (, ; born 7 March 1981) is a politician from the Donbas region, who currently serves as Chairman of the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) since 2018. Prior to the conflict in the east Ukraine region, after which he supported DPR independence, he served as a lawmaker in the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada between 2012 and 2014. Biography Bidyovka was born on 7 March 1981 in Makiyivka, Ukraine. He was a member of the Communist Party of Ukraine until 2015. He represented the party from 2010–2012 as a member of Donetsk Regional Council and in 2012 represented it as an MP. After failing to gain a seat in the 2014 election, he moved to regions controlled by the Donetsk People's Republic, where he was elected to its legislature in November 2014. Donbas Status Referendums, 2014
Referendums on the status of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, parts of Ukraine that together make up the Donbas region, were claimed to have taken place on 11 May 2014 in many towns under the control of the Russian-controlled Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.
