Pentamerus Range
The Pentamerus Range ( da, Pentamerus Bjerge) is a mountain range in far northwestern Greenland. Administratively this range is part of Avannaata municipality. The area of the range is uninhabited.Google Earth This mountain chain was named after the Pentamerus fossils dating back to the Lower Silurian that have been found in it. Greenland ( kl, Kalaallit Nunaat, ; da, Grønland, ) is an island country in North America that is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Lower Silurian
The Silurian ( ) is a geologic period and system spanning 24.6 million years from the end of the Ordovician Period, at million years ago ( Mya), to the beginning of the Devonian Period, Mya. The Silurian is the shortest period of the Paleozoic Era. As with other geologic periods, the rock beds that define the period's start and end are well identified, but the exact dates are uncertain by a few million years. The base of the Silurian is set at a series of major Ordovician–Silurian extinction events when up to 60% of marine genera were wiped out. A mountain range or hill range is a series of mountains or hills arranged in a line and connected by high ground. A mountain system or mountain belt is a group of mountain ranges with similarity in form, structure, and alignment that have arisen from the same cause, usually an orogeny. Avannaata
Avannaata (, da, Det Nordlige, lit=The Northern) is a municipality of Greenland created on 1 January 2018 from the bulk of the former Qaasuitsup municipality. It encompasses an area of 522,700 km2 and has 10,726 inhabitants. Geography In the south, Avannaata is flanked by the Qeqertalik municipality. In the southeast, it is bordered by the Sermersooq municipality, however this border runs north–south ( 45° West meridian) through the center of the Greenland ice sheet ( kl, Sermersuaq), and as such is free of traffic. In the east and northeast it is bordered by the Northeast Greenland National Park. At the southern end of the municipal coastline are the waters of Disko Bay, although some Disko Bay communities belong to the municipality of Qeqertalik. Google Earth is a computer program that renders a 3D computer graphics, 3D representation of Earth based primarily on satellite imagery. Daugaard-Jensen Land
Daugaard-Jensen Land, ( da, Daugård-Jensen Land), is a peninsula in northwestern Greenland. It is a part of the Avannaata municipality. Daugaard-Jensen Land was named in honour of Jens Daugaard-Jensen (1871–1938), who was Inspector of Greenland between 1900 and 1912.
