Pennsylvania Route 38 (PA 38) is a state highway located in northwest Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at U.S. Route 422 (US 422) and PA 68 northeast of downtown Butler. The northern terminus is at US 322 in Rockland Township. Route description Butler County PA 38 begins at an intersection with PA 68 at an interchange with the US 422 freeway in Summit Township, Butler County, heading north on two-lane undivided Oneida Valley Road. The road passes a few businesses before heading into wooded areas with some development, running to the east of Connoquenessing Creek and crossing into Oakland Township. Butler is a city and the county seat of Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located north of Pittsburgh and is part of the Greater Pittsburgh region. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 13,502. History Butler was named for Maj. Gen. A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Interstate 80 (I-80) in the US state of Pennsylvania runs for across the northern part of the state. It is designated as the Keystone Shortway and officially as the Z.H. Confair Memorial Highway. This route was built mainly along a completely new alignment, not paralleling any earlier US Routes, as a shortcut to the tolled Pennsylvania Turnpike to the south and New York State Thruway to the north. Geography The township is located in the northeastern corner of Butler County. It is bordered by Parker Township to the south, Washington Township at the southwestern corner, and Venango Township and the boroughs of Eau Claire and Cherry Valley to the west.
