Allegheny Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania
Allegheny Township is a township in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 624 at the 2020 census. Geography The township is located in the northeastern corner of Butler County. It is bordered by Parker Township to the south, Washington Township at the southwestern corner, and Venango Township and the boroughs of Eau Claire and Cherry Valley to the west. To the north is Scrubgrass Township in Venango County. To the east is Hovey Township in Armstrong County. The northeastern corner of Allegheny Township just touches the Allegheny River, with Richland Township in Clarion County on the opposite side. The southwestern end of the Interstate 80 bridge over the Allegheny River is in Allegheny Township, but the interstate highway curves back to the north out of the township to the west. Interstate 80 (I-80) in the US state of Pennsylvania runs for across the central part of the state. It is designated as the Keystone Shortway and officially as the Z.H. Confair Memorial Highway. This route was built mainly along a completely new alignment, not paralleling any earlier US Routes, as a shortcut to the tolled Pennsylvania Turnpike to the south and New York State Thruway to the north. It does not serve any major cities in Pennsylvania and is mainly a cross-state route on the Ohio–New York City corridor. Allegheny River
The Allegheny River ( ; ; ) is a tributary of the Ohio River that is located in western Pennsylvania and New York (state), New York in the United States.
