Penjaringan
Penjaringan is a subdistrict of North Jakarta, Indonesia. It is the westernmost subdistrict of North Jakarta. Muara Angke port and the mouth of Sunda Kelapa Port are located within Penjaringan. Penjaringan contains the remnants of the original mangrove forest of Jakarta, some of which is protected by the Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary. Penjaringan Subdistrict is crisscrossed with water draining channels, canals, and water reservoirs to protect the land from sea flooding. The Cengkareng Drain, part of Jakarta's flood control system, flows to the sea through this subdistrict. Penjaringan Subdistrict, especially within Penjaringan Administrative Village, contains several historic Dutch colonial buildings such as the remains of city wall of Batavia and the 17th-century warehouses (now a Maritime Museum). North Jakarta
North Jakarta ( id, Jakarta Utara; bew, Jakarte Belilir) is one of the five administrative cities (''kota administrasi'') which form Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia. North Jakarta is not self-governed and does not have a city council, hence it is not classified as a proper municipality. It contains the entire coastal area within the Jakarta Special District. In North Jakarta, an area at the estuary of Ciliwung river was the main port for the kingdom of Tarumanegara, which later grew to become Jakarta. Kota Tua Jakarta (Indonesian for "Jakarta Old Town"), officially known as Kota Tua, is a neighborhood comprising the original downtown area of Jakarta, Indonesia. It is also known as (Dutch for "Old Batavia"), ("Lower City", contrasting it with Weltevreden, ("Upper City")), or Kota Lama (Indonesian for "Old Town"). Muara Angke Mangrove Forest And Wildlife Sanctuary
Muara Angke mangrove forest and wildlife sanctuary is a protected nature conservation area at Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan along the north coast of Jakarta, Indonesia. Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary is located at the end of Muara Karang Raya street, near Mediterranean Gallery shopping complex. History Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary was protected since the colonial rule of the Dutch Indies on June 17, 1939, covering an area of 15.04 ha. During the 1960s, the conservation area was expanded to 1,344.62 hectares. Later, because of human pressure and environmental destruction within and around the national park, some of the mangrove forest area were destroyed. On February 28, 1988, the area was declared a Nature Reserve (25.4 ha). In November 1998, the status of this area changed to Wildlife Sanctuary or ''Suaka Margasatwa'' (25.02 ha). Pantai Indah Kapuk
Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) ( zh, 潘泰因达卡普克) is a gated community, located in parts of Penjaringan, North Jakarta and Kapuk, West Jakarta, Indonesia. It is one of most prestigious residential areas in Jakarta along with Menteng, Pondok Indah, and Puri Indah. PIK is often the most sought residential area for wealthy Chinese Indonesians, featuring large mansions in exclusive gated clusters. The area never floods, despite being in close proximity with flood-prone districts. Pluit
Pluit is an administrative village (''kelurahan'') located in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. In majority, its residents are mainly inhabited by ethnic Chinese Indonesians. Pluit is a bustling area with residential and commercial establishments supported by modern amenities. Etymology Contrary to popular belief, the name ''Pluit'' has no etymological connection with ''fluit'' (''whistle'' in Dutch). The name was derived from a Dutch type of ship, the ''fluyt''. In the 17th century, a fluyt called ''het Witte Paard'' was shipwrecked on the eastern coast of the Angke river estuary. Maritime Museum (Indonesia)
The Maritime Museum ( id, Museum Bahari) is located in the old Sunda Kelapa harbor area in Penjaringan Administrative Village, Penjaringan Subdistrict, Jakarta, Indonesia. The museum was inaugurated inside the former Dutch East India Company warehouses. The museum focuses on the maritime history of Indonesia and the importance of the sea to the economy of present-day Indonesia. The museum displays models of fishing boats and other maritime objects from different parts of Indonesia. The museum also exhibits the celebrated Pinisi schooners of the Bugis people of South Sulawesi, which at present make up one of the last sea-going sailing fleets in the world. Sunda Kelapa
Sunda Kelapa ( su, , Sunda Kalapa) is the old port of Jakarta located on the estuarine of Ciliwung River. "Sunda Kalapa" (Sundanese language, Sundanese: "Coconut of Sunda") is the original name, and it was the main port of the Sunda Kingdom. Luar Batang Mosque
The Luar Batang Mosque ( id, Masjid Luar Batang) is one of the oldest mosques in Jakarta, Indonesia, located in the area of '' Pasar Ikan'' (Fish Market) in North Jakarta on the west side of the Sunda Kelapa Harbor. Muara Angke is a fishing port located at Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, along the north coast of Jakarta, Indonesia. The port is integrated with fishermen's housing and a fishing port management office owned by the Jakarta government.
