Peng Tien-fu
Peng Tien-fu (; born 1 July 1951) is a Taiwanese politician. He is of Hakka descent. Career Peng was elected to the Taoyuan County Council in 1986 and served until 1990, when he became a member of the Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council. There, Peng served two terms, to 1998. In 2001, he was elected to the Legislative Yuan. The Hakka Affairs Council (HAC; , Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: Hak-kâ Vî-yèn-fi) is a cabinet-level unit under the Executive Yuan of the government of Taiwan. Its mission is to revitalize Hakka language and culture, and promoting Hakka cultural research and exchange. History The Hakka Affairs Council, officially established January 1, 2012, is a new agency resulting from the Executive Yuan’s structural reorganization. Its predecessor was the Council for Hakka Affairs, Executive Yuan, founded on June 14, 2001. Hakka People
The Hakka (), sometimes also referred to as Hakka Han, or Hakka Chinese, or Hakkas are a Han Chinese subgroup whose ancestral homes are chiefly in the Hakka-speaking provincial areas of Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Sichuan, Hunan, Zhejiang, Hainan, Guizhou in China, as well as in Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Pingtung County, and Kaohsiung City in Taiwan. The Chinese characters for ''Hakka'' () literally mean "guest families". Unlike other Han Chinese subgroups, the Hakkas are not named after a geographical region, e.g. a province, county or city, in China. Lee Yung-te
Lee Yung-te (; born 30 May 1955) is a Taiwanese politician who is the current Minister of Culture. He served as the Minister of the Hakka Affairs Council from March 2005 to March 2008 and was reappointed to the position in April 2016. Education Lee obtained his bachelor's degree in politics from National Chengchi University in 1976 and master's degree in communication from Stanford University in the United States in 1991. Political life Hakka Affairs Council On 15 March 2005, Lee was appointed as Minister of Hakka Affairs Council. During his tenure, he organized the first Hakka Language Certification Exam in Taiwan.
