Pelly-Nisutlin
Pelly-Nisutlin is an electoral district which returns a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of the Yukon Territory in Canada. It was created in 2002 out of the districts of Faro and Ross River-Southern Lakes. The riding includes the communities of Teslin, Faro, Ross River, Little Salmon, and Johnsons Crossing. It encompasses the traditional territory of the Teslin Tlingit Council and the Ross River Dena Council of the Kaska Dena. Pelly-Nisutlin is bordered by the rural ridings of Mayo-Tatchun, Lake Laberge, Mount Lorne-Southern Lakes, and Watson Lake. Boundary Commission Controversy Yukon electoral boundaries are examined by a commission every ten years to determine whether they should be adjusted. Stacey Hassard
Stacey Hassard is a Canadians, Canadian politician, who was elected to in the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the 2011 Yukon general election, 2011 election. He represents the electoral district of Pelly-Nisutlin as a member of the Yukon Party caucus. He is a former leader of the Yukon's Official Opposition and the former interim leader of the Yukon Party. Faro (electoral District)
Faro was an electoral district that returned a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of the Yukon Territory in Canada between 1978 and 2002. It was created out of the riding of Pelly River and encompassed the community of Faro. It was situated on the traditional territory of the Ross River Dena Council of the Kaska Dena. The riding was dissolved in 2002 and amalgamated into the new riding of Pelly-Nisutlin, which includes the communities of Faro, Teslin, Ross River, and Little Salmon. Watson Lake (electoral District)
Watson Lake is an electoral district which returns a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of the Yukon Territory in Canada. The riding is one of the Yukon's eight rural ridings and is one of the oldest ridings in the Yukon. Watson Lake includes the communities of Watson Lake and Upper Liard and is situated on the traditional territory of the Ross River Dena Council and the Liard First Nation of the Kaska Dena. The 2011 general election in Yukon, Canada, took place on October 11, 2011, to return members to the 33rd Yukon Legislative Assembly. Frank De Jong
Frank de Jong (born October 16, 1955) is a Canadian politician, environmentalist, and elementary school teacher. He joined the Green Party of Ontario in 1987 and became the party's first official leader in 1993 – a position he held until November 14, 2009, when he was succeeded by Mike Schreiner. From 2017 to 2019 he was the leader of the Yukon Green Party. De Jong has also campaigned for federal office as a member of the Green Party of Canada. The community of Teslin (Tlingit: ''Desleen'') includes the Village of Teslin in Yukon, Canada. Teslin is situated at historical Mile 804 on the Alaska Highway along Teslin Lake. The Hudson's Bay Company established a small trading post at Teslin in 1903 (i.e. Teslin Post). Teslin is home to the Teslin Inland Tlingit First Nations. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association.
