Pele Broberg
Pele Broberg (born 1972) is a Greenlandic politician (Naleraq), entrepreneur and pilot. He became minister of foreign affairs, trade, climate and business in April 2021, but foreign affairs and climate was transferred to premier of Greenland Múte Bourup Egede in September 2021 after a controversy. Broberg was minister for finance in 2018. Biography Broberg was born in Copenhagen in 1972. His family moved to Greenland while he was an infant and he grew up in Qeqertarsuaq. Broberg graduated from High School in Aasiaat in 1992 and trained as a pilot at SAS Flight Academy in 1995. He then worked as a pilot at Air Greenland 1995-1997 and at Aviation Assistance 1997-1998. From 1999 to 2014 Broberg was captain at Air Greenland. In February 2018, he became a clerk in the Department of Trade and Business, but is on leave while he is minister. Múte Bourup Egede
Múte Inequnaaluk Bourup Egede (; born 11 March 1987) is a Greenlandic politician currently serving as the seventh prime minister of Greenland, a position he has held since April 2021. He has served as a member of the Inatsisartut, the parliament of Greenland, since 2015, and furthermore as chairman of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party since 2018. Life and career Egede was born in Nuuk but grew up in Narsaq in southern Greenland. He attended high school in Qaqortoq before he in 2007 started studying Cultural and Social History at the University of Greenland. Between 2011 and 2012, he was the vice chairman of ''KISAQ'', the Greenlandic Academic Student Society. He did not finish his studies, as he in 2013 dropped out to take over a family-owned fodder company run by his father. 2018 Greenlandic General Election
General elections were held in Greenland on 24 April 2018, electing all 31 members of Parliament. The elections were required to be held no later than 26 November 2018, four years after the previous elections on 27 November 2014, but Prime Minister Kim Kielsen chose to call the elections seven months early. His Siumut party remained the largest in Parliament, but lost two seats, whilst Inuit Ataqatigiit, the second-largest party, lost three seats. The smaller Democrats and Partii Naleraq gained seats, with the newly formed Cooperation Party and Nunatta Qitornai parties both entering Parliament. Background The 2014 general elections saw Siumut receive a narrow plurality of the vote, but win the same number of seats as Inuit Ataqatigiit (11). The first cabinet of Múte Bourup Egede was the Greenlandic government from 23 April 2021 to 4 April 2022. It was a coalition consisting of the left-wing Inuit Ataqatigiit and the centrist Naleraq. Sermersooq Municipality
Sermersooq (, da, sted med meget is, lit=place of much ice) is a municipality in Greenland, formed on 1 January 2009 from five earlier, smaller municipalities. 2019 Danish General Election
General elections were held in the Kingdom of Denmark on 5 June 2019 to elect all 179 members of the Folketing; 175 in Denmark proper, two in the Faroe Islands and two in Greenland. The elections took place ten days after the European Parliament elections. The elections resulted in a victory for the "red bloc", comprising parties that supported the Social Democrats' leader Mette Frederiksen as candidate for Prime Minister. The "red bloc", consisting of the Social Democrats, the Social Liberals, Socialist People's Party, the Red–Green Alliance, the Faroese Social Democratic Party and the Greenlandic Siumut, won 93 of the 179 seats, securing a parliamentary majority. Nunatta Qitornai
Nunatta Qitornai ( da, Vort lands efterkommere, en, Descendants of Our Land) is a separatist political party in Greenland advocating independence. It was founded in September 2017 by former Minister of Business, Labour, Trade and Foreign Affairs Vittus Qujaukitsoq, who had previously been in Siumut and who was subsequently elected in the 2018 Greenlandic parliamentary elections. In the 2021 elections the party lost its seat. Atassut
Atassut ( en, Cohesion / Link / Togetherness / Solidarity; also referred to as Feeling of Community) is a liberal-conservative and unionist political party in Greenland. Founded on 29 April 1978, Atassut is an established partner of the Liberal Party of Denmark. History Atassut was established in late 1976 as a political movement of conservative and unionist forces in Greenland to oppose Siumut with Lars Chemnitz as its leading figure, though it soon became more liberal. Its first programme from January 1977 stated that its purpose was to "promote Greenlandic home rule within the Unity of the Realm" and "work against secession from the Danish realm."
