Pedro Silva (Brazilian Footballer)
Pedro Alves da Silva (born 25 April 1981) is a Brazilian retired footballer who played as a right-back. Club career Silva was born in BrasÃlia, Federal District. During his early Brazilian career he represented SE Palmeiras, Figueirense FC and Esporte Clube Vitória (the latter two on loan). He was loaned to Sport Club Internacional in 2005, then had his first experience abroad with Portuguese club Académica de Coimbra. In October 2006, Silva was signed by Iraty Sport Club, with his rights being ''de facto'' controlled by an investment company. He was subsequently loaned to Santos FC and Sport Club Corinthians Paulista. Moving abroad again, Silva joined another Portuguese side, Sporting CP, for €350,000. Severely injured in his first season, he eventually won the battle for first-choice status with veteran Abel midway through 2008–09, with both sharing duties the following campaign. BrasÃlia
BrasÃlia (; ) is the federal capital of Brazil and seat of government of the Federal District. The city is located at the top of the Brazilian highlands in the country's Central-West region. It was founded by President Juscelino Kubitschek on 21 April 1960, to serve as the new national capital. BrasÃlia is estimated to be Brazil's third-most populous city. Among major Latin American cities, it has the highest GDP per capita. BrasÃlia was a planned city developed by Lúcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer and Joaquim Cardozo in 1956 in a scheme to move the capital from Rio de Janeiro to a more central location. Rodrigo Bonifácio da Rocha (born 4 December 1985 in Taboão da Serra, São Paulo), nicknamed TiuÃ, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Clube Atlético Barra da Tijuca as a forward. Football career At Fluminense FC, Tiuà broke into the first team at the age of 18. In his first full season, he scored five goals in 18 Série A appearances, but only managed to find the net on three occasions the following campaign, having appeared in 29 league matches. Penalty Shootout (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). In sports, an ejection (also known as dismissal, sending-off, disqualification, or early shower) is the removal of a participant from a contest due to a violation of the sport's rules. A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. The shot is taken from the penalty mark, which is 11 m (12 yards) from the goal line and centred between the touch lines. The Taça da Liga (), known outside Portugal as Portuguese League Cup, is an annual football club competition organised by the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional (LPFP) for teams competing in the Primeira Liga and LigaPro, the top two tiers of Portuguese football. The 2008–09 Taça da Liga was the second edition of the Taça da Liga, also known as Carlsberg Cup due to sponsorship reasons. The first matches were played on 2 August 2008 and the final was held on 21 March 2009 at the Estádio Algarve in Faro. Present for the second time in the final of this competition, Sporting CP were once again defeated 3–2 on penalties, this time by their rivals Benfica. The 2009–10 Primeira Liga (also known as the Liga Sagres for sponsorship reasons) was the 76th season of the Primeira Liga, the top professional league for Portuguese association football clubs. Abel Ferreira
Abel Fernando Moreira Ferreira (born 22 December 1978), known simply as Abel as a player, is a Portuguese football manager and former player who is the current head coach of Brazilian club Palmeiras. As a right-back, he played 234 Primeira Liga matches over 11 seasons (three goals), with Vitória de Guimarães, Braga and Sporting CP. With Sporting, he won two Taça de Portugal and as many Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, in a 14-year professional career.
