Pedro Guevara (boxer)
Pedro Gibrán Guevara Rocha (born 7 June 1989) is a Mexican professional boxer. He is a former WBC light flyweight champion. In May 2017, he was ranked as the world's best light flyweight by ''The Ring'' magazine and the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, and second by BoxRec. Career Guevara started boxing as a teenager at the UAS. He still trains there, under coaches Marcos and Radamés Hernández. He represented Sinaloa in national Mexican competitions, and claims a victory over Oscar Valdez as an amateur. Guevara turned pro in March 2008, defeating Gabriel López with a round 2 TKO. Guevara defeated Karluis Diaz on his 14th professional bout, claiming the WBC Silver light flyweight title. Guevara drew with Mario Rodríguez on his next fight. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. is a Japanese former professional boxer who competed from 2006 to 2016. He held the WBC light-flyweight title between 2015 and 2016. Professional career Kimura Turned professional in 2006 and went 9-1-1 in his first 11 fights before being stopped by future unified light-flyweight champion Ryoichi Taguchi. He bounced back and won his next 8 fights before he defeated Pedro Guevara by split decision to win the WBC light-flyweight title on November 28, 2015. Mandatory Challenger
In professional boxing and some other combat sports, a mandatory challenger is an opponent whom a champion must either fight or be forced to vacate their title as champion. A mandatory defence is the opposite of a voluntary defence, where the champion may fight an opponent who might offer greater revenue potential than a mandatory challenger. Mandatory challengers are designated by the champion's sanctioning body; in boxing, the major sanctioning bodies are the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO. The sanctioning bodies often order eliminators between top-ranked contenders to decide who will receive the mandatory challenger status. If the champion vacates the belt, the mandatory challenger is paired against another challenger for the vacant belt. Unanimous Decision
A unanimous decision (UD) is a winning criterion in several full-contact combat sports, such as boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, mixed martial arts and other sports involving striking and submission in which all three judges agree on which fighter won the match. In boxing, each of the three judges keep score (round by round) of which fighter they feel is winning (and losing). This only includes landed blows to the head or the body. In MMA, judges look for different criteria such as kicks, take downs, punches, knees, elbows, cage control, submission attempts and aggression. A decision is not required to be unanimous for a boxer or mixed martial artist to be given a victory.
