Pavel Rahman is a Bangladeshi photographer and Ekushey Padak award recipient. Early life Rahman was born on 26 April 1956 in Rangpur, East Pakistan, Pakistan. ''The Sangbad'' ( bn, সংবাদ) is a Bengali-language daily newspaper, founded in 1951 and published from Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest newspaper in Bangladesh. History The Sangbad was founded in 1951 and published from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Its first owner was Nasiruddin Ahmad and its first editor was Khairul Kabir. During the 1950s and 1960s the newspaper expressed strong views opposed to the Ayub Khan government of Pakistan, and was accordingly repressed. Its offices and printing pressed were burned during the crackdown in March 1971, and it remained closed during the entire Bangladesh Liberation War. On 31 October 2017 a journalist of the Sangbad was arrested under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act. ''New Nation'' was a weekly newspaper published in the UK for the Black British community. Launched in 1996, the newspaper was Britain's Number 1-selling black newspaper. Noor Hossain
Noor Hossain (also rendered as Nur Hossain; bn, নূর হোসেন, Nūr Hōsēn; 1961 – November 10, 1987) was a Bangladeshi activist who was killed by the Bangladesh Police on November 10, 1987, while protesting against President Hussain Muhammad Ershad near Zero Point in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Zero Point was later renamed Noor Hossain Square and the anniversary of his death is officially commemorated each year as Shohid Noor Hossain Day. He is one of the most widely known martyrs of Bangladesh's pro-democracy movement. Lt. Gen. Hussain Muhammad Ershad ( bn, হুসেইন মুহাম্মদ এরশাদ; 1 February 1930 – 14 July 2019) was a Bangladeshi Army Chief politician who served as the President of Bangladesh from 1983 to 1990, a time many consider to have been a military dictatorship. He seized power as head of the army during a bloodless coup against President Abdus Sattar on 24 March 1982 (by imposing martial law and suspending the Constitution). He declared himself President in 1983, and subsequently won the controversial 1986 Bangladeshi presidential election.
