Paulus Hamutenya
Haufiku Paulus Hamutenya (born ca. 1884, Oukwanyama, Angola — died 12 September 1932) was one of the first seven Ovambos to be ordained a pastor in Oniipa, Ovamboland, in 1925 by the director of the Finnish Missionary Society, Matti Tarkkanen. Hamutenya was the son of Hamutenya gwaNghililewanga and Ndayapi yaKavengula. He was born ca. 1884 and baptized in 1919 in Onandjokwe. Hamutenya belonged to the Oukwanyama tribe. Peltola says that he had formerly been "a man of great power". He seems to have come to contact with Christianity through the Rhenish Mission’s work in Ondjiva in present-day Angola, and in the aftermath of World War I, when the Germans were told to leave Angola, Hamutenya with many other Ovakwanyama people emigrated to South West Africa. Oukwanyama
Oukwanyama (''Uukwanyama'' in the neighbouring Oshindonga dialect) is a traditional kingdom of the Ovambo people in what is today northern Namibia and southern Angola. Its capital is Ehole. Linda Helenius
Linda Helenius (July 5, 1894 in Pöytyä – April 18, 1960 in Helsinki) was a Finnish nurse, missionary and writer. Eenhana
Eenhana (IPA: ) is the capital town of the Ohangwena Region, northern Namibia, on the border with Angola. It also used to be a mission station of the Finnish Missionary Society. Eenhana is situated in a subtropical forest. It is connected to the road network and has a well-developed infrastructure. Due to the proximity of Angola, many businesses are situated here. The town hosts an annual trade fair. The name ''Eenhana'' comes from the word ''calves'' in Oshikwanyama and is a reference to the calves that used to water at the small water pan where Eenhana is now located. Engela
Engela is an Ovambo people, Ovambo settlement in the Ohangwena Region in northern Namibia. Formerly situated in the Oukwanyama area it is since 2004 part of the town Helao Nafidi, although it still maintained its own village council until the Namibian local and regional elections, 2015, 2015 local authority election. It is one of the more important establishments of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) in the area. It started as a Mission (station), mission station of the Finnish Missionary Society. Today, it is the centre of the Engela Constituency. Simson Shituwa
Simson Teteinge Haivela Shituwa (b. ca. 1871 Oilambo, Oukwanyama, Angola — died 30 January 1969) was one of the first seven Ovambo pastors, whom the director of the Finnish Missionary Society, Matti Tarkkanen ordained into priesthood in Oniipa, Ovamboland, on 27 September 1925, with a permission granted by the Bishop of Tampere, Jaakko Gummerus. Shituwa was born ca 1871 the son of Shituwa shaHaivela and Namutenya. He was baptized by German missionaries on 16 March 1902. He went to the Oniipa seminary during 1922–25. He worked in Endola during 1925–40 and 1945–1969 and in Eenhana during 1941–44. Shituwa was a local man of great influence in Oukwanyama, and many government officials in South West Africa consulted him on a number of occasions. He seems to have converted into Christianity in Ondjiva, as the result of the missionary work of the German Rhenish Missionary Society. Edundja
Edundja is a settlement in the Ohangwena Region of northern Namibia. It is situated close to the Angolan border east of Oshikango. Effects of flood It is closer to Angola and this cause the flood during the rainy season as the water flows from the rivers in Angola and it brings some positive and negative effects to the villagers. People can benefit as they catch barble fish and sell them to get something to help them to meet their daily needs. It has some impacts on them as it will destruct their daily activities, it will be hard for the people to get to the clinic and go to other places such as Oshikango.School kids won’t be able to go to school and their cross the water during cold mornings which leads to them to drop out of school. Infrastructure The village has reasonably well-developed infrastructure with access to potable water and electricity, although the access roads are not tarred.
