Pauline Wright
Pauline D Wright (born 2 December 1954) is a retired British rowing cox who competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics and the 1980 Summer Olympics. Rowing career Wright participated in the 1974 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne which was the inaugural championships for women. Competing in the quadruple sculls event the crew were eliminated in the heats. She won a national title in the coxed four at the 1975 National Championships and she was part of the coxed four at the 1975 World Rowing Championships in Nottingham, the crew finished 9th overall after a third-place finish in the B final. She was selected as cox for the Great Britain crew that competed in the women's coxed four at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. The crew which consisted of Pauline Bird-Hart, Diana Bishop, Clare Grove and Gillian Webb finished in eighth place. Rowing (sport)
Rowing, sometimes called crew in the United States, is the sport of racing boats using oars. It differs from paddling sports in that rowing oars are attached to the boat using oarlocks, while paddles are not connected to the boat. Rowing is divided into two disciplines: sculling and sweep rowing. In sculling, each rower holds two oars—one in each hand, while in sweep rowing each rower holds one oar with both hands. There are several boat classes in which athletes may compete, ranging from single sculls, occupied by one person, to shells with eight rowers and a coxswain, called eights. There are a wide variety of course types and formats of racing, but most elite and championship level racing is conducted on calm water courses long with several lanes marked using buoys. Beverly Jones
Beverly Ann Jones (born 25 November 1956) is a retired British rower who competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Rowing career Jones won the quadruple sculls event, with Rosie Clugston, Jane Curry, Sue Handscomb and E Morris (cox), at the 1977 National Championships. Consequently she was selected in the quad boat for the 1977 World Rowing Championships for Great Britain. In 1978 she won quadruple sculls again at the 1978 National Championships before rowing in a second World Championships in 1979. She was selected to represent Great Britain in the women's eight event at the 1980 Olympic Games in Montreal. Rosemary Clugston
Rosemary Frances Mayglothling OLY (née Clugston; born 15 February 1954) is a retired British rower, who competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Biography Aged 16, Mayglothling took up skiffing with the Wraysbury Skiff and Punting Club before joining Weybridge Ladies in 1974. As part of the Great Britain squad in 1975, she competed at the 1975 World Rowing Championships in Nottingham. Under her maiden name of Clugston, she won the quadruple sculls event at the 1977 National Championships and was consequently selected for the 1977 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam. At the 1978 National Championships she won the quadruple sculls and was later selected to represent Great Britain at her third World Championships in 1979 at Bled. Linda D Clark née Linda Lacey (born 1 November 1949) is a retired rower who competed for Great Britain at the 1976 Olympics and 1980 Olympics . Rowing career Clark took up rowing in 1972, the same year in which she married Olympic rower Jim Clark. She went on to represent Great Britain from 1974 to 1987. In 1974, while rowing for the Civil Service Ladies Rowing Club she won the coxless pairs with Liz Monti, at the 1974 National Rowing Championships and was consequently selected by Great Britain for the 1974 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne which was the inaugural championships for women. Competing in the coxless pairs event with Monti they finished 9th overall (3rd in the B final).
