Paula Penfold
Paula Penfold is a New Zealand investigative journalist. She is best-known for her investigation into the wrongful conviction of Auckland man Teina Pora for murder and rape. Career Penfold began her career in radio, working for Radio New Zealand and The Radio Network for eight years, before moving into television with TVNZ in 1998. She then moved to TV3 in 2003 and spent the next 13 years working in current affairs across 60 Minutes, 3rd Degree and 3D. At 3D she spent three years investigating the wrongful conviction of Teina Pora, who spent 21 years in jail for the rape and murder of Auckland woman Susan Burdett in 1994. Her stories contributed significantly to the eventual quashing of his conviction and a $2.5 million dollar payout from the Crown. 3D was cancelled by TV3 in 2016 and Penfold moved to Fairfax, establishing the long-form documentary investigative unit Stuff Circuit with two of her former colleagues. Teina Pora
Teina Pora is a New Zealander who was wrongfully convicted of murdering Susan Burdett when he was aged 17; he served time in Paremoremo prison from 1994 for the crime, until he received parole in 2014. In 1992, 39-year-old Burdett was raped and murdered in her home in Papatoetoe, Auckland. She was repeatedly struck in the head with a softball bat. About a year later, Pora who was a "Mongrel Mob prospect" at the time, was arrested on other charges and claimed he was there when the murder happened. He was subsequently convicted of rape and murder in 1994. Pora appealed his conviction, but in 2000, was found guilty for the crime a second time. ''60 Minutes'' is the name of a television newsmagazine show previously broadcast in New Zealand on TV3. The show began in New Zealand in 1989 based on an American programme by the same name. The broadcaster of ''60 Minutes'' changed twice during the 1990s. It was one of TV3's flagship programmes when TV3 went to air in 1989, then in 1992 TVNZ won the rights to the programme. After being shown on TV1 from 1993 to 2002, TVNZ decided not to renew the rights the show from CBS, and the rights were reacquired by TV3. Following this, there was a fight over the www.60minutes.co.nz domain, which for a short time, redirected to the site on TVNZ's replacement ''Sunday''. Mike McRoberts
Mike McRoberts (born 1966) is a New Zealand television journalist and news anchor. Early life McRoberts was born in 1966 to a Ngāti Kahungunu father and pākehā mother. He attended Manning Intermediate and Hillmorton High School in Christchurch. He completed a journalism diploma from the New Zealand Broadcasting School at CPIT (now Ara Institute of Canterbury) in 1986. As his father was discouraged to speak Maori, Mike and his older brother also never learnt to speak the language. As such, he was criticized for his lack of fluency.
