Paul Staladi
Paul Staladi (born 29 March 1975) is a New Zealand former rugby league footballer. His position of preference was on the Wing. Early career A Mt Albert Lions junior in the Auckland Rugby League, Auckland competition, Staladi was signed by the new Auckland Warriors franchise. He stood out playing for the Warriors Colts team in the 1995 Lion Red Cup, although he did not make the first grade side until 1997. He played four first grade games for the Warriors in the 1997 Super League (Australia), Super League season. In 1998 he played eleven games for the Warriors in the new National Rugby League competition. Later career Staladi originally signed for the Warrington Wolves for the 1999 Super League season. However, because he had only played eleven games for the Warriors this was not enough to secure a work permit and he could not join the Warrington squad. National Provincial Championship (1976–2005)
The National Provincial Championship, often simply called the NPC, was an annual promotion and relegation rugby union competition in men's domestic New Zealand rugby. First played during the 1976 season, it was the highest level of competition in New Zealand until Super Rugby launched in 1996. It was organised by New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and ceased following the 2005 season. The league was restructured into two distinct competitions. The National Provincial Championship would include professional and semi-professional players, and consist of the top fourteen financial and best performing regional teams. For sponsorship reasons it was rebranded as the Air New Zealand Cup. The remaining teams would form a breakaway amateur competition known as the Heartland Championship. The Northland Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in Northland, New Zealand; Northland is a region of New Zealand that covers areas in the districts of Far North, Kaipara, and Whangārei. Bartercard Cup
The Bartercard Cup (successor of the Lion Red Cup) was the top level rugby league club competition in New Zealand from 2000 until 2007. For the entire life of the tournament it was sponsored by Bartercard. The cup was administered by the New Zealand Rugby League. The tournament was discontinued by the NZRL in 2007 and was replaced by the Bartercard Premiership in 2008. Franchises The format of the competition changed several times over the life of the competition and in total 24 clubs or franchises competed. In the first season half of the clubs were from Auckland but as the competition went on more and more franchises represented the provinces.
