Paul Robinson (footballer, Born 1971)
Paul James Robinson (born 21 February 1971) is an English former professional footballer who scored six goals from 42 appearances in the Football League. A striker, he played league football for Scarborough, Plymouth Argyle and Hereford United. After a break in his career because of injury, he played non-league football for Bromsgrove Rovers and Arnold Town. Football career Scarborough Robinson was born in Nottingham, and began his football career as a youngster with Notts County and then Bury. In 1989, as an 18-year-old, he had a trial with Scarborough, a Fourth Division club in only their third season in the Football League. Manager Colin Morris said later that he had been "frankly, quite awful", apart from one piece of skill "when he trapped a ball at pace and pinged it 50 yards in one movement out to the wing, from where we scored". Sunday Independent (England)
The ''Sunday Independent'' was a well respected newspaper formerly based in Plymouth, then in Liskeard, and finally in Truro Cornwall. It was published on Sundays throughout South West England. The paper was founded in 1808 and had a circulation of 7,261 in 2003 (last registered figures with the Audit Bureau of Circulations). The newspaper has a convoluted history which has been well documented during its declining years due to several legal disputes involving ex-staff. Ownership of the paper changed from Newsquest to Tindle Newspaper Group in 2004. In 2014, Tindle Newspapers sold a majority stake of the ownership to retiring Tindle managing director Brian Doel. Plymouth Argyle Football Club is a professional football club based in the city of Plymouth, Devon, England. As of the 2021–22 season, the team are competing in League One, the third tier of English football. They have played at Home Park, known as the "Theatre of Greens", since 1901. The English football league system, also known as the football pyramid, is a series of interconnected leagues for men's association football clubs in England, with five teams from Wales, one from Guernsey, one from Jersey and one from the Isle of Man also competing. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time. Oldham Athletic Association Football Club is a professional football club in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England, which competes in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system. The history of Oldham Athletic began with the founding of Pine Villa F.C. in 1895, a team that played in the Manchester and Lancashire leagues. When neighbours Oldham County folded in 1899, Pine Villa moved into their stadium and changed their name to Oldham Athletic. They won the Lancashire Combination title in 1906–07 and were elected into the Football League. Martin Christopher Russell (born 27 April 1967 in Dublin) is an Irish former professional footballer who played in the English Football League for Birmingham City, Leicester City, Scarborough and Middlesbrough. A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. The shot is taken from the penalty mark, which is 11 m (12 yards) from the goal line and centred between the touch lines.
