Paul Pyers
Paul Francis "Pope" Pyers (13 March 1935 – 12 June 2016) was an Australian rugby league player in both the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition and in Queensland. A versatile performer, he played in every position from fullback to lock forward. Pyers was born in South Grafton, New South Wales, and played for the South Grafton rugby league team 1950–53. In 1954, he played with Sydney's Eastern Suburbs side. He is recognized as that club's 421st player. The following year Pyers moved to Queensland where he represented the Queensland state team 11 times 1957–59 in matches against NSW, New Zealand, and Great Britain. In 1959, while playing in Mackay, Queensland, he represented Queensland in all four of its games against New South Wales; Queensland, winning the series 3–1. He played on the wing in three of that year's interstate games and at centre in the fourth. Pyers top scored for Queensland in the series with 20 points from two tries and seven goals. ... Wetherill Park is a suburb in Greater Western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Wetherill Park is located 34 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Fairfield. Jack Reardon
Jack Reardon (1914-1991) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s and 1940s and who later became a sports journalist. An Australian international and both a New South Wales and Queensland representative , he played club football in country New South Wales before moving to Queensland and playing in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership. He is also well known for his football journalism and being the first to suggest 'state of origin' selection rules for interstate rugby league. Playing career Reardon came from Ballina, New South Wales to play for the Marist Brothers club of the Lismore district. He achieved selection for the New South Wales rugby league team before being lured north in 1936 to play in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership for the Norths club. In his first year in Brisbane he was selected to represent Queensland, and the following year he was named vice-captain for the 1937-38 Kangaroo Tour. The Rugby Football League is the governing body for professional rugby league in England, and until 1995 for the whole British Isles. The name Rugby Football League previously also referred to the main league competition run by the organisation. This has since been supplanted by Super League, the Championship and League 1. The Queensland Rugby Football League QRL Constitution, 2009: 3 (QRL QRL Constitution, 2009: 2) is the governing body for rugby league in Queensland. It is a member of the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARL Commission) and selects the members of the Queensland rugby league team.
