Paul Murphy (born 20 September 1979) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the Derry county team, with whom he has won one/two? National League titles. Murphy plays his club football for St Canice's Dungiven and has won a Derry Senior Football Championship and Ulster Senior Club Football Championship with the club. He usually plays in the half forward line for Derry and midfield for Dungiven. Playing career Inter-county Murphy made his Derry debut in 1998. He was called up to the team again during the 2000/2001 National Football League. He was part of the Derry team that won the 2008 National League where Derry beat Kerry in the final. Club Murphy and Dungiven won the Derry Senior Football Championship in 1997 and the club also went on to win that year's Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. Paul Murphy (born 27 January 1989) is an Irish hurler who plays for Intermediate Championship club Danesfort. He is a former player with the Kilkenny senior hurling team, with whom he made 94 league and championship appearances in a decade-long inter-county career. Widely considered to be one of the best defenders of his generation, Murphy was the recipient of four All-Stars. Murphy first played for Kilkenny when he joined the minor team at the age of 17. A three-year stint with the under-21 team yielded an All-Ireland Under-21 Championship title, while he enjoyed similar success with the intermediate team before being drafted onto the senior team as right corner-back in 2011. Paul Murphy (born 13 April 1983) is an Irish People Before Profit/Solidarity politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South-West constituency since the 2014 Dublin South-West by-election. He served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Dublin constituency from 2011 to 2014. He was previously a member of the Socialist Party and Solidarity, but left in September 2019 to form a new party, RISE. Paul Murphy (1942 or 1943 – 20 October 2020) was an Australian political journalist and radio and television presenter. Career He presented the ABC's afternoon radio current affairs program ''PM (Australian radio program), PM'' for a decade from 1983 to 1993. Among his favourite moments on the program during his time there was the coverage of the final caucus showdown between Bob Hawke and Paul Keating. In the 1994 Australia Day Honours Murphy was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for "service to public broadcasting and to journalism". Paul F. Murphy (born January 25, 1949) is a percussionist, bandleader and composer. He is best known for having led a variety of small jazz ensembles, and for his long tenure in groups led by saxophonist Jimmy Lyons. Career Murphy began playing drums at a very early age, and made the acquaintance of Gene Krupa at age six. He went on to study with Krupa, Louis Bellson, and Joseph Levitt, the principal percussionist of the National Symphony Orchestra and director of the Peabody Conservatory. At age sixteen, Murphy began playing in the Washington, D.C. area with Duke Ellington's bassist Billy Taylor, who exposed him to the music of pianist Cecil Taylor.
