Career In June 2002, McGuire wrote one of his first articles for South China Morning Post, titled "Best foot forward for walks in Macau". Dominic Mary (Paul) McGuire (3 April 190315 June 1978) was an Australian writer, public servant and diplomat. Life and career McGuire was born in Peterborough, South Australia on 3 April 1903. His father, James McGuire, was the Railways Commissioner. He attended Christian Brothers College, Adelaide and the University of Adelaide. At university he was the Tinline Scholar in History. Also as a university student he helped to organise Save the Children Australia raising money for famine relief targeted to Russian children following World War I. McGuire began story-writing with detective stories, some of which were published in the United Kingdom. Between 1932 and 1936, McGuire published ten novels, a book of verse and an essay on the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins. During World War II, McGuire was an officer of the Royal Australian Naval Volunteer Reserve. Paul Leo Maguire (born August 22, 1938) is a former American professional football player and television sportscaster. Early sports career Maguire attended Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio where he was an All State wide receiver and punter; he also played basketball and ran track. He played tight end at The Citadel where he led the nation in touchdown receptions his senior season in 1959 and was named a 3rd Team Associated Press All American; he was recruited by Assistant Coach Al Davis, the future Oakland Raiders owner. Professional football career In 1960, Maguire was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers of the American Football League, where he served as both a punter and linebacker. He moved with the team to San Diego in 1961, and stayed there until 1964 when he joined the Buffalo Bills. Maguire was an ace at the "coffin corner" punt. Paul Maguire (footballer)
Paul Bernard Maguire (born 21 August 1956) is a Scottish former footballer who scored 81 goals in 373 league appearances in the Football League. He played in all four divisions of the Football League, as well as the Conference and the Major Indoor Soccer League. He began his career with Shrewsbury Town in 1976, and made over 150 appearances over the next four years with the club, helping them to the Third Division title in 1978–79. He was sold on to First Division club Stoke City for £262,000 in 1980. He spent four season at the Victoria Ground and made his most telling contribution in his last match for the club, scoring all the goals in a 4–0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the 1983–84 season. He spent 1984–85 in the United States with the Tacoma Stars, before joining Port Vale in June 1985.
