Paul McGrane
Paul McGrane is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Armagh county team in the 1990s and 2000s. He won an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal, seven Ulster Championships and a National League title with the county. He also won two All Star awards. McGrane plays club football for Ballyhegan Davitts. McGrane is a midfielder. He is known as one of Armagh's best ever players. In 2009 to mark the 125th anniversary of the Gaelic Athletic Association he was named by ''The Irish News'' as one of the all-time best 125 footballers from Ulster. Playing career Inter-county In 1992 McGrane won the Ulster Minor Football League and Ulster Minor Football Championship with the Armagh Minor team. Ballyhegan Davitts GAC
Ballyhegan Davitts GAA Club (also "Ballyhegan Davitts Cumann Luthchleas Gael") is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in central County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is affiliated with the Armagh GAA and is based in the parish of Kilmore which has two ends: Mullavilly and Stonebridge. It currently competes in football, at under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 levels, and its senior team competes in the Armagh Intermediate Football Championship and in the Intermediate Division of the All-County League. The club is named after the Irish patriot and agrarian leader, Michael Davitt (1846-1906). History Ballyhegan Davitts was founded in 1902, which makes it one of the oldest clubs in Armagh. Fermanagh County Football Team
The Fermanagh county football team ( ) represents Fermanagh GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association, in the Gaelic sport of football. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Fermanagh's home ground is Brewster Park, Enniskillen. The team's manager is Kieran Donnelly. Ciarán McKeever
Ciaran McKeever (born 25 June 1983) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for St Patrick's and at senior level for the Armagh county team. He won a National Football League medal in 2005 as Armagh defeated Cavan in the final by 0-15 to 0-7. Playing career From County Armagh, McKeever played for Ireland in the International Rules Series of 2008 and 2010, and again in 2011 when he was vice captain of the team that defeated Australia by 130 to 65. He was called up for the 2013 International Rules Series ahead of the second Test as a replacement for Finian Hanley who suffered a hamstring tear. He played at Croke Park and won the Series. He is last known to have played in 2022 at the age of 38 when he lined out at full back for his club cullyhanna in a Division 1B league game as they were low on numbers. Aidan O'Rourke (footballer)
Aidan O'Rourke (born 1984) is a manager and former Gaelic footballer. He played from 2001 to 2009, winning an All Star and an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship as a player for the Armagh county team in 2002. Playing career Born in County Armagh, O'Rourke played football with his local club Dromintee St Patrick's GAC. A member of the Armagh senior football team between 2001 and 2006, and again in 2008 and 2009, he won one All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 2002, the same year as he won his only All Star award. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). International Rules Series
The International Rules Series is a senior men's international rules football competition between the Australia international rules football team (selected by the Australian Football League) and the Ireland international rules football team (selected by the Gaelic Athletic Association). The series is played biannually over two Test matches in November after the completion of the AFL Grand Final and the All-Ireland Football Final, which are both traditionally played in late September, and the winner is the team with the highest cumulative score over both Tests; however, there have been six unscheduled years since 2009. Kieran McGeeney (born 18 October 1971) is an Irish people, Irish Gaelic football Manager (Gaelic games), manager and former player, who currently manages his native county, having previously managed the senior Kildare county football team, Kildare county team from 2007 until 2013. A captain of a Gaelic games team, sometimes known as a ''skipper'', is a player who, during the course of a match as well as before and after it, has several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of his teammates. Tradition means that some teams rotate the captaincy annually, though others may adopt a permanent captain. As well as being an onfield leader, a captain takes the coin toss and raises the trophy when this is the game's prize. Responsibilities The captain leads the team out onto the pitch.
